Triple-A maps for global updated to incorporate:
    BM 2.1
    BM 2.1 + Combat Move before repair/purchase
    2nd ed + Combat Move before repair/purchase

    Removes Alpha+3

Note that 2nd ed with purchase before combat move is still available.

New maps need to be downloaded for the above.

So has there been any fix to the fact that triple a 1.9 still shitts itself on a mac when the scramble prompt comes up?  It just flashes.

Seems to work if you minimise Triple-A each time the scramble box appears. Debateably playable.

    Funny

Is it legal to bid a land unit in a sea zone (with a tp in it)?

  • The engine applies a +5 bonus to Italy for holding all of n. africa, but I can’t find that NO listed anywhere in the notes or objectives tabs. yea or nay?

Wrong thread, but it is listed in the objectives tab, so yeah. It’s the same NO as vanilla.

    Third one. Morocco … Alexandria.

I reckon. The Transport would be a unit in the SZ. However, under standard league rules it is illegal to bid an infantry on New Guinea even though it is often allowed.

Shouldnt I be able to move a trn into sz 6 from sz 5 pick up an inf and move back to sz 5 even though there is a US sub in sz 6 as long as I bring a dd with it?  Triple A is not allowing me to leave sz 6

  • Yes you should, and you don’t need a destroyer

Just tried this and it let’s me do it. Sounds like there is something else going on here.

  • It won’t let you pick up the inf because your’e bringing a dd, causing combat in that sz.

Figured out the issue.  I was loading the transport in sz5 first and then moving to sz 6 and loading another inf.  Then I wasn’t able to leave sz6.  But if I reversed the order of loading it was all good.

  • hey guys, check out this test game adam and i are engaged in:

    http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=38955.120

adam wanted to test out the scramble-to-land option, which is already available in the Map Options (i.e., unchecking Scramble to Sea Only). early on in the game when i realized how much harder it is to crack europe with all those air bases, i told adam, in frustration, i’m not liking this as it seems to favor the axis, making europe that much harder to break…but then i decided to continue with an open mind, and a few rounds later have found the battling around trying to break through rostov and with all those russian air bases to be actually very fun! probably one of the craziest and funnest games i’ve had in a while lol game is still going strong, adam just refuses to let me settle anywhere in europe, god damnit! i’ve already had to retreat out of s.france and now i’m going to have to bail on norway!

just thought i’d share this experience, and was wondering if anyone else has tried this option? i mean, it does require more scrambling decisions, so if you decide to try it, be sure your opponenent is pretty active and can answer pretty quickly. not a problem for us since we’re both very fast and responsive.

anyway, if you’re looking for something different and very interesting to try, to spice up your axis&allies, go for it! it’s freely available since it’s just one of the map options right out of the triplea box!

What is the scramble to land option?

  • @Karl7:

What is the scramble to land option?

your planes can scramble from an air base to protect an adjacent land, must like they can normally scramble to protect an adjacent sea zone.

  • so if you look at our game, you’ll see russia bought 3 air bases: in bry, tam, and volg…this is so they can all scramble to protect rostov against an italian can opening. that’s 9 planes that can scramble to defend!

    WOW!

Axis D you are blowing my mind!  That would open up huge tactical defense options!  It would also partly remedy Axis and Allies’ major prejudice in favor of the attacker, i.e. the attacker can always mass his air units against one defending territory but not vice versa.

  • very very spicy!

combine that with making airbases cost say 8ipcs in stead of 15 and allow as many airbases in a territory equal to its value… then we’d be talking!
