Hello from Dallas,
I am a new member from Dallas as of yesterday.
@lmterrell Welcome to the site. I’d suggest using triplea. It’s free and the best.

@lmterrell welcome to A&A! As barnee says, triplea is a good way to play online and for free. But if you do want the boardgame itself, it probably just depends on what you are looking for. If you are new to this kind of boardgame or you want something that is lighter and quicker (games that take an evening rather than a few days) you are probably better off with the 1942 or 1941 versions, at least to start. The Europe and Japan 1940 games are a bit more complicated and they combine for a Global game. These ones require quite a time commitment though and games can last days.
I’ve been playing online for a bit so I’m a bit rusty on the physical versions of the games but that is my sense. And if you are looking for people to play against the online game and this site are a good resource.

I noticed 4 different online versions.
I’m only aware of two. What versions are these
@lmterrell Welcome to the best Axis & Allies site on the Planet:+1:
Since you started learning how to play Axis & Allies a week ago - did someone show you - or did you start learning by yourself?
And which Axis & Allies Game did you learn?
Concerning Axis & Allies Board Game versions, I suggest - like Farmboy also mentioned - that you start learning the game mechanisms with Axis & Allies 1941. This is a smiplified version of Axis & Allies - excellent for beginners. And you can always find help on this forum.
As barnee mentioned, TripleA probably holds the best online versions - and it’s a good way to gain experience with Axis & Allies, and again - you can always find help on this forum.
Good luck & have fun:+1:

Hi all!
I’m a player in Austin Texas, but return to Providence, Rhode Island for good in the next 2 months.
I got a copy of Axis and Allies 2004 revised edition at a yard scale when I was a kid because the figures looked cool and the setup seemed fun! Finally started playing a bit in my teenage years, and once I moved to Austin in my 20’s started regular playing.
I picked up a copy of 1941 this year, and have been frankly quite underwhelmed so I went looking for other versions online and found this forum!
I play around twice a month, but am looking to play more.
I’m looking to pick up some house rules to play with (very much enjoyed the civ-specific abilities from 2004) and want to acquire some customizations in the next year.
If there’s any Austin players who play G40 I’d be very interested to hop in for a match in the next 2 months, or in Providence for the foreseeable future!
WELCOME @killerfish! I would recommend Revised, AA50 and Global 1940 for some great world view games and D-Day and Guadalcanal for scenario play.
Hi killerfish,
Great to see your enthusiasm:+1:
You should definitely look up the House Rules section - and check out The Captain’s Global 1940 House Rules Collection.
There you’ll find Global 1940 Expansion rules on a scale never seen before:muscle:
Feel free to contact me any time concerning these rules etc.
For inspiration about those rules - please check out the Global 1940 Expansions Game Report Thread.
There you’ll find tons of pictures and Game Reports from Global 1940 & Global 1943 games.
Hello all, Victor Here.
From Overland Park Kansas.
First game of A&A was probably 1981 or 1982.
I have Global 1940 all setup, looking for someone to play.
Have not played a full game yet, I have watched hours of youtube videos on strategy etc.
Played some solitaire games…not the same.
Lol, last year I bought two 4 ft by 8 ft sheets of ply-wood and made 2 giant gaming tables in the basement to play global but my two younger sons took them over to play star wars legions.
Set it up again in extra bed room looking for opponent.
New to A&A.org, looking around to see what is up.
I bought table top simulator on Steam as I saw there was a global game for it. Played around for a little while, the interface is a little clunky.
Hi @veek
Welcome to the site ! i know there’s some KC players on here, I can’t remember who. i think maybe @taamvan ?
Also if you wanna play online you can try triplea. Never tried steam but triplea been around a while and works pretty good.
