The poll was created in 2006. It reflects the games which existed at that time.

really wants a Axis and Allies game wich includes Canada as a totally independant nation!!

Hi,
Try Global War 1939. Canada has its own IPC to spend ( as are South Africa, FEC and Anzac ). All buys/movements/battles etc are done during the British/Commonwealth turn.

I voted in this poll SIX years ago…
Revised edition…
-
Weren’t you still in nappies six years ago Garg?
-
LOL.
More like trying to prove I wasn’t the father. ;)
-
Don’t even know what that means. Thank God.
We were all young once. And drunk most of the time. -
Any chance the poll answer selections could be updated? Apparently, my most played game is Revised and I know for a fact I haven’t played that for about 7 years lol
-
Well, I don’t play anything that’s listed in the poll. Obviously as pointed out earlier that this is outdated since it was made it 2006.
I play Axis and Allies 1942 1st Edition on Gametableonline, and I do have 1942 and 1941 boards for home games. (Though I don’t get to play very often.)
I cannot wait for Global 1940 2nd Edition to come out; when I do get it I’ll probably end up playing against myself just so I can play it immediately!
-
First thing I do is write down every nation’s unit strength and add up and compare and…well loads of analysis. It is heaven.
-
So I’m guessing you enjoy the statistical side of the game? That’s one area of math I’m not good at. All other aspects of math I am very good at, but I just cannot wrap my head around odds and probabilities. But you need them to do good at this game. Which is probably why I have a 30% win rate. (Though I beat an Intermediate once, when he made a tactical error. Luckily I was able to notice it when I did.) (I am a lot better at HeroScape, with a 55% win rate. Best game ever in my opinion. Axis and Allies would probably be second. :-P)
I mostly like the combat aspect of A&A and how you can rewrite history. Which is especially why I want Global Edition; it starts you basically at the beginning of the war, and gives you a lot of of options. And a huge map to play on!
-
I am not that clever. I just have this compulsion to write down statistics that I read. Then learn them by heart. Like knowing the regiments in a Brigade at Gettysburg or how many from each state. (Is OCD.)
Do love Global too, but my best never stay long enough for us to finish!
I do love history. -
This was interesting
Axis & Allies (Revised Edition) - 141 (24.1%)
The clear winner!
-
lol well the poll was back in 2006, and doesn’t include anything released afterwards, so of course Revised wins.
IMO Revised was a big improvement over its predecessor. Revised was definitely my favorite until aa50 came along–I came later to aa50 then others on the forum because I was still having fun with Revised.
However, once I got into aa50 i lost interest in Revised.
At present I prefer Global. I’m a history buff so the historically authentic part of Global appeals to me. The alpha3 revisions are a big help, but the real draw is the map design and the game mechanics innovations.
In my opinion the game mechanics progression from Revised to aa50 to Global represent an improvement that should be positive for the franchise. An updated poll would probably reflect that.

Axis & Allies Variants
i don’t like this game.
wast my time and this forum also -
It would be interesting to have an updated poll available. I only play spring 42 now but can’t vote for it with this one. Now, lets see who should do up a new poll. I nominate……somebody besides myself!
-
Yes, Global (Pacific/Europe) 1940 rock, someone should get another poll rolling.
-
These days it’s either A&A50 or (if we can’t get six players) Spring 1942. Before that it was a steady diet of classic for 15 years. I’m amazed how long it took us to switch.
