You guys don’t see the problem? I don’t know how I can explain it any clearer.
Ok. I don’t see it. Then maybe I do.

I don’t see how creating a quasi-Vichy France will allow the US to continue producing units even if Paris is liberated.
Please elaborate on your rules.
-
Maybe this would help. Lol

Well, if/when USA lands on Normandy, assuming it can hold it with UK help, it can start producing units there. It can then build up a little and maybe take Southern France also. What it can’t do is proceed to Paris because then USA can no longer produce units in Normandy. Also, being next door to Germany’s major factory is a somewhat higher bar to defend than being next door to the minor factory in Paris which is a candidate for strategic bombing. So there are scenarios where trading Paris would be attractive for the allies but because it stops USA from producing units this does not occur.

Is that a custom map? Any more explanation?
Or is that what simon33 posted?
It’s my custom map. It was kinda of a joke where if allies land they can hold and build.
But I’ll remove if need be. -
Why can’t US build units in Normandy if they move out ? They have a minor factory there.
Reason for the free French units is what I meant by my suggestion may help allies hold Normandy. But seems u want something different. If u do Vichy then it should be for all French territories and not just 1 or 2. But

If they liberate France then all Allied controlled originally French TTys revert to French control. Better to leave France be so you can keep using the Factory.

Ya I get that. Hold it. If game unbalanced as they say then give them free inf to help hold and bomb the crap out of Paris.
-
It already does that but it isn’t enough.
-
So you want a bigger bonus for liberating France? Got it.
-
I wouldn’t say a bigger one off bonus but a removal of the ongoing penalty for trading paris.
I suppose you can argue that the allies can’t trade London or India oob but this weakness is already resolved in bm so the next thing to fix is the Paris problem.

What’s BM?

Balanced Mod.

Thank you!

Am considering a version 2 of this game, with 5 changes
- guerrilla fighters turned off by default
- reverting to 6IPC for the China objective
- Where a CV purchase has been depended on for an attack, it must be mobilised where it was needed (player enforced)
- Okinawa+Iwo Jima objective turned off by default
- add 1 Anzac sub in SZ62
Any comments?
edit: added the second then third change

-
I can now announce version 2 of the French Rebalance (renamed from Parisian Rebalance)
- All French territories become capturable by USA/UK/Anzac if they don’t go Vichy.
- Sub in sz62
- French troop in French Indo China
- One infantry in Siam upgraded to an artillery
- Chinese Burma Road objective restored to 6PUs
- Several BM changes now turned off by default (Guerrillas, objectives for Carolines, NW Africa for USA, Okinawa&Iwo Jima for Japan and the UK objective requiring 2 of Sardinia, Sicily, Greece, Rome, USSR bonus for provoking a Japanese DOW on it)
- Anzac declaring war on Japan doesn’t put Britain at war with Japan
I would think it likely now that Vichy is activated by the Axis nearly always but UK fights them for it.
-
Good ideas. How do they affect the game in practice? What goals or behavior do they change?
-
@SuperbattleshipYamato That remains to be seen but what I expect is more fighting especially early.Rather than thinking of trying to claim islands and build objective income, Axis players will be going all out for Vichy while Allies will want to stop it. Only place where fighting will reduce is SZ62 which is a bit of an annoyance to me, so much riding on dice in a J1, especially if there wasn’t a New Guinea inf bid. Later there will be more fighting over Paris. USA can walk in one round then back to Normandy next round and then activate Normandy over again. They would lose one or more rounds of production out of the Normandy factory but not forever. Also, more fighting in China to make sure you retake the Burma Rd every round. Pressure to do that seems eased in BM.
At one time Balanced Mod saw axis bids but now they’re often over 20. So perhaps something like that will happen here. Or maybe bids will trend the other way? I’m not sure to be honest but I feel these changes make the game more than a little better.

Nice. I might take them out for a spin one day (note to self).
