    OK I checked this Research Facilities post out. I like it too.
    With my events cards each country has a chance for receive a free tech card ( roll for tech on chart d10 ) and also 2 cards in each countries deck have it where they receive a free tech token. Plus a spy card that can steal an enemies tech if they have one. You can also buy a tech token for 5 icps.
    If UK gets a tech Anzac gets it too in game. Just don’t feel Anzac should get there own tech rolls. So pretty much what I have in game covers most of this topic.
    But I could add a Research Facility on map for each capital and now they can be SBR.
    If they don’t pay off damage then they don’t get there tech rolls at start of turn.

    Question is in my game, if you have 4 tech tokens and roll 4 6’s you only get 1 tech and rest of tokens destroyed. So is the damaged facility too much cost for repair ?
    Maybe but remember you have a chance for 2 free tech tokens and a free tech in your event cards. Plus a spy steals a tech if you have it.
    So a damaged research shouldn’t hurt you that much. If its just in the Capitals most times not bombed. Just can’t buy them for now and each country has one in capital.
    Iv’e had games where there’s only 4 tech in game with 20 chances ( all countries) for it and a game where there was 16 techs in game but didn’t unbalance it due to you have to keep your techs to the point where some don’t help and some do or not so over powering. Like Long range air. Make it +1 space and not +2 spaces.
    It adds to game of a chance for tech at a low cost but also has small changes to the games and some times during the games.
    Most countries only buy 1 or 2 tokens. Ha Ha waiting on free stuff in cards. lol
    And as Gar mentioned it gives each country a chance for tech ( and honestly this is the first time I read this topic today ) and more money towards buying pieces in game. Like Russia can’t really buy a token but has a chance for tech but also may not get a good tech. But then might get Rockets, industrial cost -1, long range artillery or radar. Some good ones there for no cost. But you may not get these event cards in game for tech too. LOL.
    22 cards each deck and only turn 10 over most in games. Spices it up.
    Tech is a thing you have to play around with to what you want it to do in your games.

    I am not inclined to give France a facility given the current turn order and set up. In other words it does what so many house rules end up doing–strengthening the Axis. The British should get two. They came up with so much tech. When at war, the British and the American cooperation might result in an added roll. Italy, no tech. Rus only gets ground and production.

    I will say that the best tech system I have ever seen was grasshopper and big al’s deluxe ana chronologically graduated tech chart. It is nation specific and tied to history. but this stand alone mechanic is the best.

    Yes I was a bit involved in deluxe game.
    So I know what your saying. Yes history wise give each country tech as war goes on.
    The French don’t get tech in game. Event cards are more or less espionage and small stuff.

    Plus each country gets 2 NAs so they get something at start

    Are you talking about adding tech cards to the event cards decks ?

    Once cards are shuffled at start of game they cannot be reshuffled during game at all.

    Well another option is to have a tech tree for each country. At least then like Russia wouldn’t get Jet fighters.
    Make a Tech chart list. Then what ever the country got in war put on list. Some lists will have more than others.

    Game has a lot of historical in it but also want game to be more random for Tech but a lot not good for some and changes each game a bit.
    For now I don’t want OK Germany gets Tigers starting on turn 6 every game. That shouldn’t be a tech anyway.
    They should get to buy that starting on a certain turn based on year where your game starts.

    I’m still very interested in what you want do here.

    That is exactly why I like yg’s system. they will get it because they got it. makes a lot of sense to me. I would even say that German bombers can only go four spaces. They never built a four engine bomber. all of this would be “mods”. cool options to throw in the game.

  • Ya you could add all the special pieces to game but most wont play it. Already know that.
    As I mentioned depends on your players preference.

  • @SS-GEN why would you do that, I wonder? as i understand things, the german tanks in 1940 were glorified armoured vehicles that were not nearly as good as the russian t34s, which (according to vdh) were based on some designs by GS Patton. if anything russian should get a '“tiger”.

    I’m playing global 40 house rules right now, oztea’s optional tech pkg. it favors the axis in my opinion but has the give it because they got it idea.

    My game starts in Dec of 41. German Tigers were being built around that time.
    Russia has KV-1s in game at start too. Stronger than any Ger Tank at the time.

    Yes wittman. There was 4 Tiger tanks that saw service on Aug 29 1942 in SE of Leningrad. 3 broke down and all 4 had to be recovered. Then they made more changes to the Tiger designs and then later mass produced them.

    Crockett, I have a buds Tech/Special weapons list he used when his 39 game came out in 1995. You cannot use tech until turn 6.
    You still could buy tech tokens to research before turn 6 and on each turn after turn 6 1 or 2 countries would receive
    a free tech per turn as game went on. I can post a pic of chart if you would like to see or anybody else.
    A few techs are not correct time wise. One or 2 countries already had one.
    I will see if its just tech or both with special weapons.

    Here’s the chart with the year. How accurate I never really checked.
    Disregarded the turn order so there’s no confusion. Turn order based on his 39 game

    I guess if you want time of season to match turns in your game I’ll post pick with seasons on it
    After turn 2 I think it’s 4 turns per year

    For what it’s worth it’s something that maybe somebody may want to put a few of theses in there game or whatever
