Thanks as always! :-)

Ahhh, there it is… wish this were stickied in AA50 like the other games map files are… I imagine with the re-release of AA50, more folks will be looking to reprint their maps for home use.

Shortly before christmas I was looking for the same item to print a map as a gift to my spouse’s son, who is meanwhile in on AAA. Fortunately, I detected the maps of IL. Unfortunately, there are some slight errors in the maps, concerning at least the new edition (territories and victory cities). Finally, I raked up my old map files and converted them to the Anniversary edition. To cut a long story short, there is new file existing, I will load it up within the next days.

New Map, based on Anniversary 2nd edition

Sweet dedo ! If I get to this game I will make a 4’x8’ map and play with Miniatures.

Awww… you put a money-track on the top of the board… why did you do that when we got the far-superior separate tracker for that? The original gameboard doesn’t have a tracker on the map either. Don’t suppose you could offer one without the money track?
Still a very nice map… we should get these their own stickied thread like what is in the 1942 and 1941 forums.
P.S.
Besides the money-track (present in Dedo’s, not there in IL’s), what is the difference between Dedo’s AA50 2nded map file and IL’s AA50 1sted map file? Also, I think Young Grasshopper mentioned on his channel he was going to do a AA50 mapfile? Is that still a thing? -
No problem with the IPC Tracker. It is just a layer (something like a transparency) which could be switched off easily. Please find below the link.
Personally, I found it more convenient to track the IPC on the map, this avoids the use of an additional tool on the table.Differences between IL’s map and the Anniversary 2ed:
- territory Malta was deleted/does not exist
- territory Acores was deleted
- victory city Polesti was deleted
- victory city Cairo was deleted
- territory Corsica was deleted
- territory Sardinia was deleted
- territory Silicy was deleted
-
A second version of the map:
- Anniversary 2nd Ed
- no IPC track

Thanks for the clarification and the updated map file sans-IPC track… while I understand why you include it on yours, I was happy that Anniversary had a separate board… not sure why, but in our games (of 1942.2 with the IPC track on-board), someone always manages to bump the IPC markers while moving units around (being so close to Russia and what-not)… when we have it on a separate board, we can put it out of the way of careless players! Appreciate the new maps!

I checked my files and some of what has been said is not true. Here are my original files that Dedo used and made his own. I dont use mediafire anymore, dropbox is much better and no spam

Supreme Edition:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/cb2i5zsllorzxi7/AA50.pdf?dl=0The only thing i see as accurate in what he said is that i do add Azores to my maps. Its an important base that the axis can capture and have the ability to attack USA with bombers ( long range ones) which incidentally was what Hitler had planned to do if the war was extended. The maps are exact OOB with that exception.
-
One difference between my map and the version Dedo took and modified is on my map i adjusted the location of Honolulu which is at not on the big island, but accurately moved to Oahu. As many have noted before, that mistake on the map was a gaff that i would never make.
-
Ugh… I plan on printing ONE AA50 map for personal use with my friends in the next month or so… I’m trying to find something as close as possible to OOB AA50 2nd Ed, with possible exceptions to obvious improvements that don’t change the game (like moving the victory city from the big island to Oahu is a nice touch).
I’m away from home and on my cellphone right now so can’t check the PDF’s in detail, but I thought there were some issues with control flags in China or something? I don’t know which version(s) fixed or didn’t fix these… IL, did you update any of your maps for AA50 2nd Ed, or did you just repost the links here to your 1st Ed maps?
At worst, I just have to choose which map is best for me, as opposed to not having any maps to choose from, so if that’s my only problem, its a good one to have.
I’m so confused.
P.S.
Also, IL, you posted three links to AA50 maps… what are the differences between the three links… I know Dedo’s two links is one with and one without an income track… what makes your three links distinct from each other? -
go home and open the file, these are in PDF.
If you don’t understand what the OOB maps looks like look here
https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/35052/axis-allies-anniversary-edition/images
look at the cities he said were missing and you will see they are not missing when you get home to open file. Thats it

@IL: I don’t know what you mean. I bought the NEW (2017) anniversary edition and compared it to your supreme map. In the new anniversary edition
- there is no territory Malta
- there is no territory Acores
- there is no victory city Polesti
- there is no victory city Cairo
- there is no territory (name) Sicily
- there is no territory (name) Corsica
- there is no territory (name) Sardinia
- victory city Honolulu is located on the biggest island
No big deal concerning differences (what I stated above), with the exception of two additional territorries (Malta, Acores). I can understand your historical approach, but my approach was to rebuild the up-to-date anniversary map. I don’t know the former anniversary map (1st edition from 2008), perhaps it contents the above mentioned cities and territories - the current version does not. No offending…I appreciate all the stuff you developed, but am I wrong when correcting the map details listed above which are not included in the new edition?
By the way, hopefully we don’t need to discuss the correct location of Honolulu, when there are dozens of topological or geographical incorrect locations of territories, of cities or whatever on ANY original and rebuilded AAA map.

This is an image of MY original map of the new anniversary edition 2017, bought in December 2017: as you can see there is
- no Acores
- no Malta
- no Cairo
- no Polesti
- no Sicily
- no Corsica
- no Sardinia
-
there is no territory Malta
- there is no territory Acores
- there is no victory city Polesti
- there is no victory city Cairo
- there is no territory (name) Sicily
- there is no territory (name) Corsica
- there is no territory (name) Sardinia
- victory city Honolulu is located on the biggest island
The names alone don’t mean anything, they have no Icon so they are not in control by anybody. It doesn’t effect the game. The correct placement of the location of the victory cities was deliberate and in spite of the actual map. Victory city in Cairo and Polesti must have been some request i received. Will check another file.

Speaking of requests, any chance either IL and/or Dedo could make an optional German-controlled territories with Swastikas instead of Crosses? (To me, it’s just an accuracy thing, like moving Honolulu to Oahu). I noticed IL’s Phase-1 map was sporting them, but both IL’s and Dedo’s more current maps both had the crosses. I know some prefer the cross which is why I ask for maybe just an alternate download with swastikas as opposed to a change for all.

I’m from Germany, and the German Criminal Code states:
Section (86a).
(1) Whosoever
1. domestically distributes or publicly uses (…) symbols of (…) a former National Socialist organisation or
2. produces, stocks, imports or exports objects which depict or contain such symbols for distribution or use in Germany or abroad (…),
shall be liable to imprisonment not exceeding three years or a fine.(2) Symbols within the meaning of subsection (1) above shall be in particular flags, insignia, uniforms and their parts, slogans and forms of greeting. (…)
So I must refuse your request concerning swastikas as insignia on the map.
