    I am actually surprised that I had to chose one landing spot for all defending planes. It is clear that attacking units must retreat to the same field or sea zone; but can defending planes not just return to where they came from or, in case their carrier was sunk, to ANY neighboring sea zone?


  • @Martin Okay, I think I’m up to speed. I have installed the specified version of TripleA and will now do Russia and hope all is good!

    Regarding planes, yes I believe the rules state that you can choose any friendly land territory or carrier (with available space) to land on after returning from a a battle.

  • Guys, I was just checking on this game now because it is the only one still in the first round of the playoffs. We are almost 7 months from the beginning of the year, and it is only round 15.

    Please play it out until Martin resigns, but I declare this game over for playoff purposes.

    I would expect Martin would be resigning very soon anyway. You have the right to play this game out to the bitter end, but because you are the last one in the bracket and there is a clear victory, I want Badger to advance right now and play Sovietish cat.

    FlyingBadger did not contact me about this. Martin, you are so friendly and good to me, but this is the right call. Again, don’t resign until you want, but Badger advances as of now.

  • @gamerman01 It’s your league so it is your call ultimately, but it is my fault this game has gone on for so long. Martin could have beumped to a win long ago, so I think it is only fair that at least Martin is given some advance notice of this judgement. How about we are given another week?

    I struggled to play promtptly at the start of this year, but have been mack to a good pace again recently. If it is me who advances to play in the next round then I am pretty sure I can play fairly quickly.

    Everyone including me is highly resistant to bumps in a playoff game, because the players didn’t actually agree when and who to play, and because no one wants defaults in the playoffs.

    No advance notice of judgment necessary because you are up by 1,000 TUV. I can’t imagine a comeback from that unless the board is extremely lopsided and the Axis might somehow get the victory cities, but the whole bracket is waiting. That’s why unilateral. I do grant you the week because Cat did.

    That’s good, Cat tells me his game was over in January. If most of the 7 month wait was because of you, and Martin was a great guy for waiting patiently and never messaged me asking for a win over time, don’t apologize, and just advance proudly as your gameplay commanded this win. And thank Martin for not asking for a win months ago.

    OK, since I wrote this I thought I’d better look again.

    I would normally never give any commentary on someone else’s playoff game, but given the circumstances, 1 week to play,

    Japan actually is a monster but needs to make a move on Sydney or Hawaii for the Axis to win.

    After the Japan move, there is only 1 transport and 3 carriers in the Pacific. While the Allied defense is not huge, they have too much time and money to ever allow Japan to even think about taking one of the cities. Because Europe is done for, surely badger will easily build up the defenses needed.
    Even if Japan were to take the win, it would take a long time to get there.
    Another consideration is that it looks rather likely that Berlin will fall before too long, and that makes Japan get 7 cities.

    On a positive note, that is a great Japanese empire there, and you have 1 week to try and make something happen.

    I apologize if you didn’t like me commenting on overall strategy, but I think it’s obvious and you both know what’s going on there.

    You may take all the time you want to finish this interesting game, but badger needs to start playing cat soon, that is the point of my invasion here.

  • Different perspectives are good, especially on something which hasn’t had fresh eyes on it for a while. Martin had a good shot at winning with Japan, but got some bad dice in round 13 in a naval battle off the coast of Queensland. I do have a significant material advantage, but had been too focused on Europe and not enough on the Pacific.
