The Renegade version of the rulebook can now be viewed and downloaded on the Renegade A&A Resource Page. There are no actual rules changes from the Avalon Hill version, but the text has been updated with the material from the FAQ.
New Renegade Edition
-
Anyone know what rules improvements, changes, etc. are being loaded into the new edition?
-
Hi @Swishtail, there are no rules changes or improvements other than those mentioned on Renegade’s website:
- Four more German infantry units
- Two more British infantry units
- 30 more plastic chips
- Rulebook updated with latest errata
Here’s another press release with similar info.
Here is the official errata from Wizards, which is what I assume they intend to incorporate… that and any other salient info from Krieghund’s epic 1914 Q&A thread here on the forums.

I’m just so happy that a new one is coming out. I just wanna scream with joy:
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh! :)
Glad they’re adding more infantry. I’ll probably still have to buy two games to get enough pieces.
I was lucky enough to spend 150 USD to get an original. I’m happy I can play the game on a board without opening the original.

@superbattleshipyamato I know what you mean - after years of craigslist alerts I JUST this month found a local copy for sale (for $100!) and snapped it up. But no way I was going to pass up the chance to pre-order a reprint as well for $87 including taxes and shipping! I’m definitely not a “keep it in the shrink wrap” kind of person, but I always like multiple copies for extra pieces and customization options :)
-
Me too. I got two copies. Glad it’s 20% off, not a fixed dollar amount.
-
This new company is either very incremental or very cheap. They just add a few pieces and slap on the logo and call it theirs???
Holy crap, roll the dice and invent something new!
-
Who cares? We’re getting Axis and Allies 1914 again (hope that didn’t come off as rude)!

I moved your reply to

where similar ideas currently are discussed,
as this is the 1914-category.So please let us stick to the 1914 game, here.

@superbattleshipyamato In terms of the resale market for old titles, point taken–but a new company has to add some flair or wrinkle to the next stage of AA for better or worse. This keeps people ( new people) interested in the new ideas. If you add nothing, you just defeat Ebay’ers by reducing prices on used games…

True, true. I’d rather get the old games before getting new ones. But yeah, I’d like a Kursk and Stalingrad game in the future, maybe even naval battles like Leyte Gulf.
