Axis And Allies Anniversary Now Out Of Print
-
(Don’t know if this belongs in News or Axis And Allies Anniversary, if so please move)
Got Anniversary last month and it had a damaged rulebook, box, and peice trays. It was still listed as a Supported Game for Production Replacement online so I asked for replacement peices.
I used the online chat to place my replacement request and when I gave the game to the worker he said that they don’t support that game anymore until he looked and said that they still do. This made me suspicious that they wouldn’t support it anymore…
My replacements still arrived, 2 days ago, but I just looked on their website again and guess what! Axis And Allies Anniversary is no longer supported as it is out of print. (Glad I put my request in time).

I remember people being excited when the reprint got announced because prices on the secondary market for the 08 print were hitting ~$400. Hopefully people got their copy while they still could…
Personally, I’m still treasuring mine from 08. Drove like 2 hours to some hobby shop in the middle of nowhere to pick it up for $100 because my parents thought buying things on the internet was “evil” somehow (keep in mind things like eBay/Amazon were still fairly new back then). Good times.

For those searching for a reference, it is here:

https://avalonhill.wizards.com/avalon-hill-axis-allies-anniversary-editionWhat I find most interesting on the list of games that AH supports as current games is Axis & Allies: D-Day. Are they still making new copies of D-Day, or is that just leftover from better days?

They are stale leftovers. Nobody with a brain bought that silly game. The game progression is alot of killing with a few pieces left near the end because the reinforcements are too few. So the board is mostly empty spaces, which is not realistic.

You know, that has absolutely nothing to do with whether the game is still being made or not. If you don’t have anything nice to say, go roll some dice instead.

I did not bring up d-day. If i roll dice at 1942 Online they all come up fives and sixes way too many times. I promise.

I think he thought you where talking about D-Day because he asked if D-Day was leftovers and your post was then stating that it was leftovers (for anniversary). Also the use of the word “Reinforcement” because Anniversary used the word Mobilization but D-Day does directly use the word Reinforcement.
(Also, am I doing something wrong if almost all of my Axis and Allies games end with most of the board empty because they just for some reason turn up like that)

Well especially with D-day for the aforementioned reason. The other games have this issue but not to that extent.

@Playing-Kid @Playing-Kid hmm…The exact same things were damaged in my copy as well. No more, no less. Odd… Good to know you can contact their customer service and get replacement parts.

Got a replacement copy…still have issues with box components being damaged…I’m 2/2. Pretty disappointing, especially one that costs as much as it does. I’m wondering how widespread their quality control problem goes for the Anniversary edition…

Does anyone know if there’s a “soonish” planned reprint? Or do I just need to pony up a good chunk of change on the secondary market? Any reputable sellers (via eBay, etc.) people would recommend off the top of their head? Or just go on seller ratings? Any things I should be aware of (counterfeits, etc.)?

@fenderbender4 The 2017 reprint took us all by surprise before they announced it. That said, I don’t think they are making more any time soon. The only thing I would mention about getting a copy second hand is that there are two box covers - one mentioning Avalon Hill’s 50th (the 2008 version) and one that has no mention of Avalon Hill’s 50th (the 2017 version). Both are valid copies. Expect to pay more for the 2008 version (as that version is older and the print run was smaller) but finding a 2008 version for the same or less than a 2017 is neither unheard of nor to be looked askance at.
Good luck either way!

Zatu games has it on restock preorder in the uk

I just checked Zatu again and it’s still on restock…😩

@wanguskhan
They may reprint it again, preserving all the errors and the illogicially ordered setup charts.
Comp for WW1 is $350-600 now.
