Nice. Very ambitious. I wish you the best of luck.
WAR ROOM - New Larry Harris Game
-
I’m in. 131000 now.
-
There was no doubt in my mind that you were going to get a copy and make changes as needed. :-D
@Imperious:
Ok i joined the bandwagon and pledged $350. I hope they make those changes. I would hate to make new cards for Germany, and Historical army designations.
:-DAnd the question how has Larry changed my life?
I can only say he caused me to make maps and AA related files for thousands of people and i was forced to learn Illustrator CS so i can do that. Took many hours of hard work.
Its at $117,000 and we got 12 hours left since it went live. Come on Asia, finish the job!
-
Only 2000 USD to go … awesome.
-
10:08 (UTC+01:00) this morning:
TA-DA
Backer #684 added 350 USD!
-
Woohooooo! Less than 24 hours!
-
$350.00 sold out. Guess I dont get one now. Stuck at work. Oh well. Ill wait for reviews but a long wait.
-
Limited (92 left of 100)
what?
-
Also, does anybody care about having Germany control resources from French West Africa/control of Madagascar?
My point is to correct that issue, but to balance out the work perhaps some chap would help to fix that and also want to make decals with each nations forces correctly on the plastic stacking components ( e.g.American tank icon on USA stackable, British fighter on UK fighter )
With respect to the cards, we just need 3 new cards made ( 2 new Vichy for FWA and Madagascar, 1 replacement German proper card to integrate the FWA resources–we need to decide which, but that should be easy)
Thats it

Ordered the game 149 pledged but now I want the 99 map pledge. Can’t find the cancel pledge to go back to repledge if I need to. Plus the dam thing won’t let me pledge just the 99 Crap. Gettin pissed. I’ll just cancel the whole thing.

To add the 99, you need to pledge 149+99=248.
-
I see that after I ordered 149. Now I need to cancel order and then reorder again. Don’t see a cancel button. Don’t see just order 99 reward button neither.

Send me your info and I’ll help ensure this gets rectified. I am sure Larry and Tom are handingling a number of these requests. We’ll get there!

Thanks Gar. Didn’t mean to blow up. Just got frustrated.

So just to clarify, War Room is intended for production to sell on a retail scale? FAQ on the Kickstarter page suggests this (second print run), but I just want to make sure that if I can’t back the Kickstarter I should have reasonable possibility to get at a local hobby retailer or on Amazon eventually.
Also assuming the Jumbo map will not be an option come retail sale time. Looks like you have to back now.

They will apparently sell games from their website in the first print run.

I assume yes if the board game Scythe is any indication of the desired route WAR ROOM wants to take, it only makes sense that when production is in full swing due to the kickstarter funds, that a well oiled machine is now cranking them out for game stores… successful games don’t go out of print after their kickstarter campaigns just because they got their start on kickstarter.

I guess that is what I was most concerned about. I have been a part of Kickstarter campaigns that effectively function to get the product to the backers, but no wider distribution after that. Not having production and distribution supported by an established industry entity (like AH/WotC) means there is an uphill battle to get the product more exposure in the marketplace. It’s not an insurmountable problem, but one that I was curious Larry and Nightingale Games were actively trying to address. Maybe they hope to gain a level of success and find an industry partner to take over the production and distribution eventually.
WR seems like an evolutionary game with some creative, but smooth, mechanics that primarily A&A players would readily adapt to. It would be good for the genre if it really catches on and becomes the next Axis & Allies.

I think Nightingale Games wants to be that industry Partner… we shall see what unfolds, but they have done a great job so far.

YG my understanding is your getting a “playtest kit”, can you play and game and go thru the rules point by point so we get an idea what its about?
