World At War uses “Revised” rules, and after looking that up, it states you can’t retreat from any amphibious assault save for air. That doesn’t make sense in terms of the larger map etc, but it is working as intended, it was my understanding of which ruleset was in use.
So it was my error on assuming the wrong ruleset. I will thank you for graciously allowing the edit and will be far more careful with amphibious assaults moving forward.
On the strategy side, I’m taking gambles because Russia is crumbling against Germany. Well played, sir! I hope I’ve stalled you long enough for my Allies to open that second and third fronts.
Unfortunate situation. But frankly, we Allies need all the breaks we can get so would be gracious of Germany to allow the error.
