EBard Shapeways: Generals & Admirals for each faction for sale now!
-
Hi all,
Some of you may know me already, I operate a storefront over on Shapeways designing and selling miniatures compatible with the Axis & Allies board game. I am posting here to let you know of a new product line that I am now selling that I think many of you will be very excited about: generals and admirals figures for each A&A faction!
A picture is worth a thousand words, so I’ve attached a picture of what these figures look like when painted. Additional pictures are provided on Shapeways.
All of the pieces are available for sale now at my Shapeways store (EBard Models). I would post links to the items but the forum says I’m not allowed to, so I guess you’ll just have to go to Shapeway’s website and search for “Ebard models” to find my site and then select the category “Generals & Admirals” from within my site. Or browse to www[dot]shapeways[dot]com/shops/ebardmodels
Also, if you haven’t heard of me before, you might want to check out the category “Capital Buildings” when you visit my site.
Feedback and suggestions are welcome, though please be aware that this is just a hobby for me, so I only work when I can and on what I want to. But I’m a huge A&A fan, so if you have a good idea that I like, then I might very well make it!
Enjoy!

Wow, those are amazing! Why haven’t we thought of this before… thanks for sharing EBard!

Very nice Ebard. I have your capital buildings from Shapeways already. Fantastic job!
-
I have thought many times about using leaders in Axis and Allies - these pieces will help make it possible - thanks!
-
He has nice stuff that’s for sure. I bought some Atlanta class CLAAs from his store, painted them up and used them this past weekend and they were a hit. I’m thinking really hard about these Generals/Admirals…need some rules though.
BTW, his capital city pieces look good too.
-
EBard,
––WELCOME! It’s really good to see you posting here on A&A.Org !
----I’ve been spreading the good word of your A&A unit designs on Shapeways for quite a while now here on Org. I’ve bought dozens of EBards designs, everything from Aircraft of many types to Facilities like Air or Naval Bases, and his custom-designed Naval Shipyards, too.
Thanks again for your excellent designs that compliment what we’re ALL trying to do with this game;….Have FUN!Tall Paul

Guys
He has nice stuff that’s for sure. BTW, his capital city pieces look good too.
––I couldn’t agree more! Shown below are some pics of EBard’s Capitals after they’ve been painted. I hope you enjoy them.
––I’ve bought literally dozens of EBard’s designs and I’m EXTREMELY HAPPY with them! They’re all very detailed and durable, too. Everyone should “check out” his designs on Shapeways if they haven’t already done so.Tall Paul

Do they have any fortification pieces or coastal forts available? I need them for my Great War Game ( my playtest copy)
-
For rules for the leaders, I’m thinking they should allow you to re-roll one to three dice each battle or even each round of battle. That to me says that the leader has the potential to impact a battle in a meaningful way, but it is not a guarantee of victory, nor should it rule out the possibility of a leaderless enemy beating you through better luck (i.e. roll of the dice). This also allows for different levels of leaders if you so desire; for instance, maybe Patton lets you re-roll two dice each battle while Eisenhower gives you three re-rolls. I intentionally tried to provide multiple sculpts where possible so that this sort of rule would be possible.
Imperious Leader, if you can share what sort of fortification or coastal fort you are looking for I’d be happy to try to make it. Please send me a private message over on the Shapeways site and we can talk specifics (it’s easier for me if the conversation happens there as it keeps all model design related talk in one place that I can refer back to when I’m doing the actual work).
Tall Paul, I’d love to see what the rest of the capitals look like painted! I haven’t gotten around to painting my own set yet, though I’m hoping to in the next few weeks.
Thanks,
EBard -
Just quickly, if I wanted 10,000 Qty of a small plastic token… is shapways a good place for that, or is it cheaper to go with a plastic mold and have it manufactured traditionaly?
-
I would definitely not go to Shapeways for something like that. It is very hard to get per-unit costs low at Shapeways due to the way they charge you both material volume and handling fees ($1.50 per model piece on WSF and $5 per set on FUD, I think). I tried once to produce something similar to what you are describing and it was very cost prohibitive.
Bottom line: Shapeways is awesome for a few custom pieces, but for large scale production there are better options out there.

Instead of rolling dice for leaders, you could put a sticky number under each leader and thats his value. Like Patton can be worth a 5. He will boost 5 pieces +1 on attack and defense every round of combat. I do this in one of my games and that I want to try in another 39 game. All leaders have different values and you have to start with inf first to boost. The leaders have A and D values for themselves too. Once you lose the leader, thats it and you can’t buy anymore. You start game with a certain amount of leaders ( Generals ).
The US and Japan have 2 navy ( Adm ) leaders each also. -
I ended up buying the global set leaders, I already painted them. The detail on the sculps isnt anything extraordinary, but they look nice, and you can use them in the game as leaders. The only bad thing they all came in a zip bag, and it was really hard to tell which sculp for each country. I think the naval leaders are all the same sculp.

@EBard519:
Tall Paul, I’d love to see what the rest of the capitals look like painted! I haven’t gotten around to painting my own set yet, though I’m hoping to in the next few weeks.
––The best & easiest way would be to give you a “link” to my INFRASTRUCTURE thread here on .Org where the pics are located. They begin with the Anzac Capital at response #66. If you scroll along you’ll find pics of all of the ones completed so far,….as well as many other of your designs such as the Naval & Air Bases. I hope you enjoy them and let me say a big THANK YOU to you for your wonderful designs.INFRASTRUCTURE
