22 bomber! :-o
-
@Shin:
I’d like to note that I only had about 22 bombers at the time, and it was round 14. So, pretty conservative as far as bomber stacks go.
while you may think 22 bombers is conservative for a round 14 battle, but it’s those same bombers that severely restricted movement and reinforcements throughout the rounds, as well as forced other critical territories and sea zones to be overly-heavily guarded (like UK and i’m sure 91 or 110, for ex (haven’t seen your game so i don’t know the specifics)), and hence when you decided on the final blow, it was a true blowout…how could anyone guard all the critical territories and sea zones sufficiently? can’t, allies just don’t have that kind of money…so when the hammer finally drops on one of those critical territories that had to make due with less support, it’s a true crushing

Exactly right A-D: the problem here with Shin did a J1 causing the US to focus on the Pacific almost exclusively. So when the final battle came in Europe, there was no way the US could build up an atlantic fleet in time that would even have a chance against German bombers. So the only thing the allies could do in the short run was fortify–which didn’t work.
-
Just try a three submarine bid. Z110 or Z111, z91 and z98. That way you can crush the italian navy and the submarine in Z110 and Z111 can submerge, but the Germans do need to take it into account when calculating as you may choose not submerge it and let it absorb a hit. Not saying it will work, but key early game for the Italians is navy and key for the Germans is air. Bids need to be aimed at killing as much of that as possible. I might be wrong. I prefer playing with axis anyways, but still.

yea……US has 3 challenges to overcome in a bomber-infested europe:
1. build a large enough fleet to survive a massive bomber strike (which means many loaded up carriers)
2. build enough loaded tps to actually make a difference (BIG fleet carrying only a small army is practically worthless)
3. find somewhere that actually matters to invade or reinforce (normandy, norway, egypt, etc), and somehow protect them from getting wiped out right after touching groundplz keep in mind people, when ftrs have to sit on carriers to defend the fleet, they can’t be reinforcing the landings, and vice versa…and salt to wounds, ftrs on carriers don’t do a darn thing to help against SBR…
normally all this is achievable, when there aren’t 30 bombers that is

Has anyone brought this up with Krieg? or Larry?

Proof that bombers don’t solve every problem!

bmnielsen over axis-dominion (again and again)
http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?board=54.0
i made some suboptimal moves simply because i know what strat i have to face. i got depressed. i resigned without much of a fight.
this strategy is making me really hate the one game i love the most, and bmnielsen happens to be really good, so that doesn’t help matters.
last time i will play against this strat, until either serious rule refinements are made or a good counter is found.
-
i offer to play bmnielson a league game.
-
That was the championship game for the 2nd bracket!
Congratulations to bmnielsen for defeating Dizzkneeland, rgp44, and Axis-dominion on his way to the title!
Thanks to the new rule allowing playoff games to count in next league regular season, he is off to a perfect 7-0 start and is currently on top of the rankings with an impressive 6.29 PPG average, impossible to attain until this year with 7 point tier E.

I definitely think this is not necessary unless the top league players are regularly beaten by bombers from maybe even weaker players.
I still believe that there is a very high chance that the right adaption was just not applied yet to that strategy. We should also keep in mind that a regular Barbarossa also often lead to a win when executed well.
I still think it needs to be proven if Bombers cause any kind of imbalance.
I as Allies definitely fear a perfect and brutal Barbarossa more than bombers.@bmnielsen: Gratz to winning the bracked and the the top1 position in the league. Well done!

Karl plays a wicked allied game when he puts his mind to it.
