https://www.dropbox.com/s/9lc40mnwpsq8pxz/IMG_0608.JPG?dl=0Keep in mind the pieces are the ones for the game, but the colors are not correct. In some cases the color is similar ( British are closest to final, Austrians too)
The Russians are way off- they look green
Italians are ridiculous green- the actual final color will be darker
Ottomans are going a dark red, not orange
France blue will be slightly darker
Germany will be darker -
Very nice IL. Pieces look great. :-)
-
thanks, keep in mind Cavalry and entrenched infantry are two piece.
Another problem is you need to keep the Cavalry in a separate compartment because the lance often bends. The plastic is somewhat like old 50"s style “bakelite” style plastic.
-
Wow!! Looks so cool…
Could have been more than only one photo of the Great war game though.
Which size had the playtestmap that you used? -
I posted 6 different pictures, not one
This is the starting setup BTW.
Played 2 games, 1st stalemate, 2nd Allied Victory
-
Only the first link was from the game, the rest were from France 1940 game

@Imperious:
The producer also said in today’s conference call that he will make available a limited number of map prints on the mat material in 6 x 4 for purchase ( about $100 total for each)
I got clarification that the OOB map is mounted 3 x 5. He also hoping for a Christmas release, but it seems too soon based on it being just 12 weeks before Xmas.
But no official announcement yet, and no pre-order thing yet.
In case it wasn’t clear before, sets of all pieces will be made available for separate purchase. So you don’t need to buy tons of copies. But i would anyway because it will sell out and prices will jack up quick.
IL posted this awhile back for map size.

The map in the picture is 6 x 4, production map is 5 x 3 mounted and with alot better resolution.

Wow IL you`re killing me with these pictures!!
Ich will!
I recognized some minor errors: Rheims is a city in the Champagne, Kosovo should be far more in the South of Serbia. (Its in the north west of the tt you call macedonia), Beloruss and White Russia are the same. Better call the eastern one “Minsk” or with the actual borders on the map better “Smolensk”.
All in all this looks so much better than A&A 1914…

5 of which appear to be some sort of battle of France in 1940.
Guessing that was a mistake? -
Cannot wait for this game. These are awesome pictures IL. :-D

Yes we are aware, they will be moved before final map is sent. Smolensk will replace Volgograd, etc

I am stupid, what does this mean in cm ?
-
I’ve just had a look at the pictures and the map and the units look great (appropriately enough for a game called the Great War). Looking forward to its release!

We don’t use the metric system on a lot of things, here in The US, but I looked it up, and it says 30.48 cm equals 1 foot.
I hope that helps. :-)

Thanks John, so that means foot…
I always thought americans use inches when telling the mapsizes of boardgames.
But 5 x 3 would then be a pocket game
I will be traveling to the Dardanelles and Gallipoli on sunday for one week and visit the battlefields,
it would be nice to have something interesting to read on that journey, maybe some sneak previews
from your rulebook, IL? -
:? :-o :? :-o :? :-o
