That I know but just try giving Stg Bombers a d8@1 and figs a d8@3 for dog fighting only.
Adding Tactical bombers - questions
-
We are adding tactical bombers to our custom game next month and I have some questions about how you do battles…
1. if you have a tac matched with a fighter one round and lose the fighter, do you move the tac down to 3 the next round or does it stay at 4 the whole battle?
2. if you lose your tac-fighter matchup during the battle, can you change in mid-battle and say “this tac is now matched with this tank”?
3. if a tank is matched with a tac can it also be matched with a mech, and if not can you switch matchings mid-battle? Like say you lose a mech from your tank-mech match. can you say “this tank is now matched with this tac that lost its fighter last round” and how do you keep track of all this?
thanks

- Yes it moves down.
- Yes
- That is a tech isn’t it? Might need to make up a rule interpretation. I would guess you can’t claim both bonuses simultaneously.

I believe this combined arms must be paired 1:1.
If a MI and a Tank were together in blitz TT, you can change the combo on the battle board since MI no longer need Tank, it needs an Artillery to rise to A2.If your talking about this Tech:
6. Improved Mechanized Infantry.
Each of your mechanized infantry units that is paired up with a tank or an artillery now has an attack value of 2.I believe it means that 1 Tank cannot be paired with both MI and TcB.

From the rulebook:
@rulebook:
Combined Arms
In some instances, a mix of unit types activates
enhanced unit abilities. For example, an infantry unit
matched with an artillery unit enables the infantry to
attack at 2. See the following chart for details. (See
also “Unit Profiles”, page 27.)Some unit types require one-to-one pairing with
another unit type and may be paired with more than
one other unit type. Each unit may be paired with only
one other unit at the same time, but may be paired
with different units at different times during the same
turn. For example, an individual artillery unit may not
be paired with both an infantry and a mechanized
infantry during the same combat round in the
Conduct Combat phase in order to make both units
attack at 2. However, the same mechanized infantry
unit may be paired with a tank during the Combat
Move phase in order to blitz, and then be paired with
an artillery in the Conduct Combat phase in order to
attack at 2.HTH :-)

Essentially, one must only have a unit that is eligible to support the other to enact the combined arms bonus. You don’t literally have to say this tactical bomber is supported/supporting that tank. Just have a tank and the TB or a TB and a FIG, or an Inf and an Art. Etcetera.

I see - thanks!
