As it has not been posted before: Renegade indeed relased a reprint of Anniversary Edition celebrating the 40th Anniversary of A&A itself:

I got into the board game too late to buy the 50th Ann :(. Did not know the game (A&A in general) even existed untill 2004/2005. They know how to keep a low profile. First copy i ever got was spring 42 in 2009
Spring 42 is a good game! It’s like the Anniversary edition rules with its own map (resembling Revised the most) but without NO’s or tech…. If Anniversary did not exist, Spring 42 would probably be my favorite.
I paid £50.00 in the UK for my Anniversary edition when it first came out.

Yes, but then you wouldnt have the Italians.
I’m 90 percent sure that it was $100
That was retail in hobby stores.
@Imperious:
ok. I paid $59.95 each for 6 copies and free ship and tax ( coolstuffinc). Latter sold 5 for $250 each. Should have bought all 2,000. If i knew it was limited i would have.
Is that right Imperious Leader? They only produced 2000 copies of AAA? No wonder prices are so high…
collector item. I got one for $60-$100 pre ordered on the day of release. It was under $120 so I bought it. Otherwise you count your lucky charms I would get a cardboard box, smack kinkos up, spray paint some pieces for italy, and call it a day.

Wait… Imp, could you answer this? How do you know? Or were you just taking a guess? I’ve looked everywhere on two different copies of the game, can’t find any print number or other indicator…
they said it sold out three months after it came out so the production level must have been really low. They said it was to stay in print for six months or until it sold out.
They went quick, that’s for sure. Current prices online are still crazy prices.
I read that somewhere, so it may be true or not.

Ah. Cheers. Damns… was thinking there was a product number hidden somewhere.
It’s a great game! Glad I was back into Axis and Allies in Fall 2008 and got my copy!
I think I paid over 120$ (I don’t live at the US) but I simply didn’t care because the was the only copy at the store and the guy who had ordered it had cancelled the order. One of the best Xmas I had :D

His loss!
This one is going for quite a bit - one of his armies is painted and has some transfers… nice.
Gorgeous.
So my used set is worth 500-600 now? It will probably keep rising. :-D
He also says only a “few thousand” were printed. Might be a guess, but is probably a good guess.

Yeah… I’m thinking that Imp’s recollection is on the right track, wish we knew an exact number though. I noticed this question was posed a couple times on Larry’s website - but none of them were ever responded to.
Ah well… Not even sure why I’m so curious, don’t think I’ll be parting with mine anytime soon 8-)

Ain’t that the truth?
I suppose if you could buy one for $500 and then sell one for $800-$1,000, that would be shrewd….
It really is a great game, and it didn’t take long in November 2008 for that to become obvious. :-)
Another special thing about Anniversary - with the 3 boards, you can actually re-arrange it during the game to put America in the middle of the map. This doesn’t work well with global (America on Europe map doesn’t line up with America on Pacific map - nowhere near :-()
