For anyone interested in trying out the next version of TripleA early, I’m posting weekly updates to the “triplea.jar” file (which goes in your “triplea/bin” folder, of where-ever you installed triplea) and monthly updates to the “triplea_all_platforms.zip” download to here:

I’ll make a full list with the next release, but a quick summary is:
1. A new multithreaded battle calculator that is 2x to 10x faster
2. A new AI (called ‘hard ai’ or ‘pro ai’)
3. Savegame size bug is fixed
4. Some other major bug fixes
5. Increased compliance with rulesMostly I’d want help with testing that the battle calc works perfectly in all situations.
Anything not on gamerman’s google doc should be reported.
Any bug, errors, crashes, freezes, anywhere in the engine, should be reported, though I doubt there is anything of the kind.
I would consider this release to be at least as stable as the current 1.8.0.3 release.

Great! Savegame size is the biggest problem we have atm. Too big to upload to the forum. Pls cut the crap and make it as small a s possible.

Ok… I am confused. The latest version was shown as malicious and Chrome blocked it. Please explain…

When I downloaded it, chrome said it was Not well known / not popular / too new, and therefore could be malicious.
Once it gets more downloads, that message will go away.
You can always scan it with an actual antivirus program, or download the source and compile it yourself.

Thanks… Didn’t think it was malware or a virus, just never seen Chrome do that. I downloaded it with IE and installed. I am interested in the AI code; pathmaking, unit selection, etc. Seems like an interesting task.

Ok… If you want a bug report, here is what I have seen in 1.8.0.4:
During non-combat move, Hard AI will move into territory that was taken during the combat phase. Also, left a large number of bombers in Norway with limited support. It might have been bait however that was a big loss. Round 24 Germany in Anglo-Egypt, combat followed by non-combat move into same area. I have saved the game if you want it. I did let the game go past normal victory. Where are the log files saved? I can save those as well if you would like to see it. WW2 V4 1942 Spring.

There’s a thread on the triplea site devoted to the AI. You might want to post it there. I don’t think Veqryn checks this as frequently.

Ok… my mistake, reinforcing after the battle is allowed. Thinking back to the original game where you had to move everything in combat. Not a bug… IJN moving navy towards south america and getting stuck due to the canal being closed… this is a bug with the Hard AI.
