@shadowhawk but then you would need to utilize more aircraft which you couldn’t use against the British navy and you would be more likely to lose more higher valuable units (mechs suck to lose more than infantry for example)
taking out the Brit destroyers?
-
So you might know that I live in allied headquarters, but I am forced to play the bad guys occasionally. recently I did a g1 attack and focused on the Brit destroyers in 111, 109 and 106. I figured this would make him buy a destroyer and convoy him for as much as 11 if I got super lucky.
It does concede Gibastion but I thought it had merit. I did purchase 3 figs for round 2 lock out of the Atlantic.
-
I’m confused. Aren’t there other ships in 111 as well? Assuming you destroy them, it’s possible that the British will do as expected due to the large amounts of U-boats.
Don’t recommend ever attacking the cruiser off Gibraltar. With two U-boats, the odds are too low.
-
@superbattleshipyamato I destroy all the ships in those seazones.
-
Huh. I wonder how leaving sea zone 110 units alive will work out?
-
@superbattleshipyamato try it out. If you get lucky and burn planes as casualties you are immediately convoying England. Usually in both 109 and 106.
-
The only problem is if Britain decides to scramble. Would require some extra units.
-
The Germans can bring more than enough
-
Agreed.
-
One of my new initiatives is to use subs as subs were intended to be used, as convoy blockers. It’s a lot easier to replace a plane geographically than replace a sub in the mid Atlantic.
This may be one of those “game that we wish we had” impulses.
-
Clever. There are more than enough submarines to blockade the UK and destroy British units in sea zones 109 and 106, unless the British scramble (so it’s just right), then aircraft can bomb the Channel and Scapa Flow.
-
@crockett36 said in taking out the Brit destroyers?:

would you expand on this ?
-
Probably means submarines in sea zones 109 and 106.
-
@barnee I think subs were predominantly used to convoy not in battle. So this means positioning for sneak attacks, successful convoying and poaching new builds.
-
Curious ideas. Let me know if they work!
-
I was informed this weekend that the Japanese doctrine of war was to use the subs against combat vessels. It did not go well.
-
Yep! Luckily depth charges, hedgehogs, and the like never exitst in the game, so it’s safe. Battleship guns are the ones to look out for.
Anyways, I doubt submarines were considered expendable like we do.
-
When i first started playing we did a similar move but really fighting uk too much is a distraction for Germany which needs to focus on taking out ussr
-
True. I like to wait for the Soviet Union to declare war, whilst using aircraft to keep the UK down.
-
@simon33 right. That’s why I’m suggesting the 111 109 106 attacks. And planes can be rebuilt when the tanks can’t reach Moscow in time. So the subs that start the game can last longer.
-
Sounds like you guys don’t agree with me at all.
