    @axis-dominion Whether or not I am the first to ever try it I dont know but I never saw anyone else use it. Been trying to think through something to do about it now but at this point there just arent any options other than hiding and let Japan have fun.

    I think your record against me is pretty one sided when I have been axis, but I think I have done pretty well against you as allies so we will see.

    Will give up and go with my best effort later tonight.

    @oysteilo Force allies out of position, save all transports, easily take down every axis target on J3 and retain/attain complete control of pacific with basically no sacrifice on Japans part. Whats not to like?

    Not impossible for that to happen with other openings if allies are played in some silly way but there is basically nothing allies can do to prevent in this case. Not saying its game over but definitely puts Japan into a fantastic position - no luck required. And J3 is great for europe as well.

    @oysteilo I agree. Also, Allies get something in return: Anzac saves tranny, Guam fig can be evacuated, India gets a ton of extra money (I prefer taking Sumatra, too).

    not sure how the Anzac tp will be saved, it can’t escape in time with a J3. but Japan on the other hand saves all of its own tps. Guam fig is ok, but there are of course tradeoffs. india gets a good amount of money, but then America doesn’t. Germany and italy have more time and freedom as well.

    @jdow Saving the anzac tranny isnt a given - where can it go and stay safe?

    the rest of what you are saying is true of all J3 DOWs. So one is welcome to debate J2 vs J3 but this is a specific J3 opening and I think you would be hard pressed to come up with a better J3.


  • @ksmckay if you ARE THAT worried about this why dont you put two armor and two mech in Kasakstan and 2 fighters and 1 tac in moscow round 1? instead you run away from szechewan with your tail between your legs?

    @ksmckay I see ur point now.
    AD positioned the fleet J2 in a way the Allies cannot bring their fleet in position to kill TTs after J3. True, this makes the J3 tough to deal with. I haven’t been confronted with this yet so not sure whether the Allies can give the Axis tough choices by eg putting boats in 54 or 39 or by using blockers.
    Also, can Allies build Usa1 in a way they stack 54 and, if being attacked, have a counter?
    Assuming usa builds eg 2 subs and maybe a bomber? Just throwing some ideas in. Sounds like an interesting challenge to find an appropriate response to this Japanese opening.
