Why do we all lie about our ages

So, I’ve viewed a couple of people’s profiles and a bunch of the people I have viewed have completely ridiculous ages, like older than the oldest person that’s ever lived. Why do people do that? Is it just a internet safety/data privacy thing? Does this forum have a minimum age?

AFAIK the forum software sets the age of 19 in case users don’t care to add their birthdate to their account details.
That at least explains why the majority of users is “19”. -

And I am most definitely no younger then 20 years old. That was absolutely not a random yet reasonable number generated by myself incase this forum didn’t allow minors such as those who are most definitely not myself.
