Manchuria and Kiangsu original controlers???

  • Something I just noticed today.

According to the FAQ Manchuria and Kiangsu are originally controlled by China.

Now taking into consideration that Japanese units are in Manchuria and Kiangsu at the start of the game (both scenarios), how can China be considered the original owner of these territories?

    This rule doesn’t make sense…

  • Well, WWII began in 1939.

So take the start of the 1941 and/or 1942 -games as scenarios in which Japan has already captured those two Chinese territories.

    hth :-)

If 1939 is to be considered the starting point of the war than IMO Japan should be considered the original controller of Manchuria since they took it from China in 1931.

  • Official Q&A

There is nothing “special” about 1939.  The war started when it started, and before the war, Manchuria and Kiangsu belonged to China.

In a similar situation, the USSR is the original controller of Belorussia in both scenarios, even though Germany starts the game in control of it in the '42 scenario. The only difference between these two situations is that Japan took Manchuria and Kiangsu before the start of the '41 scenario, while Germany took Belorussia between the starting points of the two scenarios.

  • Manchuria was under Japan control since 1932. It should be called Manchukuo.

Korea was Japanese since like 1910.

    Kiangsu was japanese in 1939.

The Chinese control issues were added because after the war ended China got this territory because they were on the winning side, so in the game they likewise can gain this objective, so AA50 will sell in China.

I think they are considered originally Chinese for game balance issues.

If they were originally Chinese, then Russia cannot capture them for income or to give England the NO for an allied controlled orange territory.

Likewise, if Japan puts an IC or AA in these territories, and later loses it to the allies, they become virtually useless.  This also prevents the allies from taking it, building there and fighting against the Japanese.

Basically, making them Chinese territories makes life a lot easier on Japan.
