NML 1914 - Team Game #5

That was a quick one. I’m in for another
-
Early surrender, but quite understandable. I’m game for another
-
That just leaves Elrood to respond. We’ll need a replacement for Dawg. Any candidates to invite?
-
@fmerwinrommel I am in. in the one Centrals win we saw (Redrum played Germany and took Paris early), I think a lot of things came together.
Redrum had a great strategy but also some crucial battles wer luckily won by Germany in the first turn, which left UK in no position to bring in units to France early on.
My point is: I firmly believe that Centrals need still a small boost to get things going. Currently we have industry and 3 extra inf for Turks. May be Austria can get some small boost as well?
-
@elrood hoe about an IC in Galicia ?
-
i’ll play. can’t resist
-
@witt Generally I think ICs press a player into a specific strategy. But may be the IC in Galicia is no Brainer as it “always” gets build. But what about German east Front… the Warzawa IC is a joke and cannot sustain a proper Russian campaign, but having another IC in Prussia or so, would divert Germany from a possible Fast Paris campaign…
I would prefer maybe something similar to Turks… a few more units in the backlines (at it’s ICs) and a nice tech to start with. That would have no immediate effect, and the respective player can choose where he applies this new bonus
-
@elrood I think Austria lanis sting enough and Germany could do with an OC ij the East , you are right.
M
Maybe an IC for Germany then. Not sore about a Tech too. Too much. -
CP has won more of our team games than Entente. Russia is often the deciding factor. Game 4’s aggressive Com player with lucky tech dice put R under pressure. If R feels safe, he can tie up massive amounts of A/G units around Galicia. PP showed that an aggressive Austria with successful opening battles can pressure R. Sometimes Turks crush India or India crushes Turks. Depends on who is playing what, whether they coordinate, lucky battle dice and lucky tech dice.
I suggest that A and/or G get conditional tech or tech dice. If they spend a given minimum for tech in first 2 or 3 turns but fail, give them a tech or free tech dice. -
CP have won more games than Entente? Thanks for checking that FM. If so, then surely we shouldn’t be giving them any help?
-
@private-panic CP won games 1 and 2, were in command of game 4, but as Entente started stabilizing, CP conceded rather than play on. R was close to collapse. So was tied 2 games each until Entente won game 5. Entente has the advantage in one-on-one games, but with more players and requiring more frequent coordination, CP has the advantage in my opinion.

Then you are suggesting a kind of handicap for able players? Or a bonus for the players who are below par? I think that is not feasible. That is why there is a bid in G40. A good Axis player will win against Allies +50 IPCs while a not so good player will struggle against an Allies +12 Bid.
-
@elrood bidding on 1 on 1 games to handicap differences in players is not what I propose and is not doable in multiplayer games.
-
@elrood I have in the past said that player skill is far more impactful than which side you have. That was following a game where you, redrum and witt took on entek, dawg, a et v and myself - if i remember the players correctly. We never had a chance but played it through to allow you guys to enjoy your victory. But I made this point at the end of the game in the hope that players would spread themselves around to even up the sides. I do hope that is what is happening.

Makes sense. so you like to have a gentlemens agreement of sorts?
-
@fmerwinrommel no surprise there
