Strategic Rail Movement Capacity:
Germany can use Italy’s SRM in Europe after the Take Over.

I have a buddy of mine who always wants to do a first round no combat and he likes to play Axis, I don’t want to do this because I believe the Allies will have it easy since UK will be able to reinforce the living hell out of France as well as keep a fresh French Army. However, I think I need to try it once to see what happens. Anyone tried this and see what it does? I image the German Army is going to be tied down so bad that USSR will be able to invade Germany.
I think this would be a huge swing because then the French could also build with their 19 ipcs… The allies would have enough to hold France from the Germans… might be worth trying a game or two on Triple A to see how it works out for you… I would play a game with you if you like to see how it works out… I would try and land a crap ton of units on France to see how it does…
Anybody just try Russia getting to move twice on first turn ? No bids
T1
Russia - can’t declare war
Germany
Russia - can’t declare war
Then finish turn s as normal
If USSR gets a turn 0, I image most players would just buy infantry. The only good conclusion I can see is that I for sure don’t have to move the Soviet Eastern Army.
@Caesar-Seriona I remember in A&A second edition, no russia attack was a great equilizer for that game, but this seems back breaking for the Axis. its interesting that Paris gives the germans such a great 2nd turn, but not taking it tilts the game heavily. I would still be interested in seeing some results on a no attack on T1.

What’s a normal bid ? What is Russia starting income ?
@Caesar-Seriona In 2 of 208 games, france didnt fall–UK can fly a ton of fighters there (6?) and we’ve done that too. If france doesnt fall, the Axis waste 2 turns trying to kill it, which means the Allies win.
There are many suggestions to tweak turn order, or to make france survive, alot of people want to try this. But I think the game dynamic requires paris to fall in order to preserve any chance of the Axis winning the long game and so if you somehow still think this is a good idea, the bid should go to Axis.
I agree. France must fall T1. Otherwise axis done.
I’ve only seen a few guys try some of these suggestions and play tested them on this site.
I may have missed a few more.
Seems Most post suggestions and some say it won’t work or will. I don’t post nothing unless I know it’s been play tested.
Unfortunately I don’t play g40 due to many things but if I did I would of by now tested most of these g40 suggestions and house ruled.
If this is to be viable, then the timing of everything needs to be moved back. USA cant declare war until turn 6, etc. It makes no sense to add one round of non combat but allow USA to be at war turn 3.
@squirecam Interesting idea, I might try turn 1 no combat with US declares on turn 6.
@Caesar-Seriona in some of our live games the US barely even gets to participate before its over…after 8 hours…as it is.
@taamvan Unrelated but I have that issue when it comes to HGB 1936 as I can’t get US’ income high enough for them to go to war.

This was a problem with us in HBG 39 1st edition game. Some games not till T5 or 6 as taamvan said. To me and most players don’t want that. That is why we play my 41 game now. Everybody at war. People want US now. By the time they got in war it was time to leave game after 10 hours. Just when it was gettin good.
What you think of just giving US T4 can declare war ? This way Japan can’t delay it and most attack US t3
@SS-GEN Fair enough. The only two versions I actively play now is G40 and 1936.
crockett36’s time machine. Handicapping, balancing system.
Would France really be able to hold out? Germany also gets 1 turn to bring more units in range of France and build more units that can attack immediately.
@Faramir The objective is not necessarily to get France to survive, it’s to get France away from a script so the player has some freedom.
@Caesar-Seriona I know, it is just that some people were saying that it was not a good idea because then Germany could not conquer France G1.
@Faramir I get that but while Germany did beat France easy, they certainly didn’t do it in a week.
