Thanks for the feedback. Most of the rules for the game were crowd sourced from those actually playing an axis and allies style game. The game was never intended to be a historically accurate representation of the American civil war…as are the axis and allies WW2 games. They are themed games. You are welcome to try it out on Steam tabletop simulator if you have it before casting any kind of judgement. It really is a fun game that challenge players. If you want more historically accurate games, you’ll have to look elsewhere.

Thanks for your comment - I can confirm, that it has been time consuming to get this far with the Axis & Allies War Room.

But most importantly - it was worth the effort - and we continue to have tons of fun & challenge playing Axis & Allies.

In a WWII context, I think that having a draw as a war goal is a concept that would only apply to the Axis, and that would only apply (depending on the game start date) after Germany and Japan had made the territorial gains that were in place by mid-1942: Western Europe, the western part of the USSR, and the Asia/Pacific territories which Japan initially overran. It can be argued that from this point onwards, the Axis could be satisfied by either defeating the Allies entirely (a win) or by simply hanging on indefinitely to what they’d conquered (a draw).

The Allies, on the other hand, could only be satisfied by winning. As Stalin said, the Axis powers weren’t going to jump into the abyss without being pushed. To the Allies, a draw would essentially have meant acknowledging that Germany and Japan has established a “new order” in Europe and Asia. Indeed, Japan’s overall strategy – if you can call it that – was the hopeful idea that the Americans would suffer some costly losses if they tried to attack Japan’s defensive perimeter, would lose their will to fight, and would simply walk away, leaving Japan in possession of its newly acquired marbles. That plan went out the window when Japan, to put it mildly, got the Americans really really angry at them by attacking Pearl Harbor. Germany had a somewhat similar goal of conquering the USSR roughly up to the Urals (the “A-A” line), digging in, and limiting itself from then on to bombing the Asian part of the USSR to keep it from making trouble. That plan went out the window when Germany failed to even get as far as Moscow.

@fieldcommander The only issue with the larger map 5x10 are the reach ranges. So if leave some space around the edges for pieces and such you might have a hard time reaching the middle of the board, like the all important Mediterranean, especially if you have short arms like me!

Love the M-1 Carbine, nice touch!

It’s fully functional too. My Dad carried one in Korea (He was an artillery man during the war) I have all the attachments for it (30 round mags, bayonette, heat shield, oil tube, etc.) It’s a very fun small caliber weapon to shoot. I like how it adds to the whole war room atmosphere so it just has to be displayed on the wall. I keep a trigger lock on it because I have young children running about and the rest of my hunting rifles are locked up in the safe. If anyone comes across a nice WWII propaganda poster or gadget for sale (from any country) please let me know. I’m really ramping up my collection.

My grandfather was in the 40th Infantry Division in Korea and he told me a story about how carbines were a prized weapon of choice in the infantry. Guys from other units had them and it got around that you could get your hands on one if you went to the showers and waited for a guy who had one to step into the shower. Then they would just take his gun.

He ended up doing just that.

Yes thats what I’m talking about. Design my own Battle Boards save to file and then get printed. Just need it were its protected from finger print smears and any other stuff.
