Hello, I’m taking the plunge into global from decades of enjoying anniversary. I’m pretty much limited to online these days and have run through a few early games rounds on tripleA. I noticed there are quite a few versions there- I settled into 3.3, the version with Vichy. I’m guessing that is the most common version people are playing these days? (…in more serious tournament style play)
I checked out some videos with some strategies on youtube and have started scratching the surface here. I’d love to play a game with a pretty strong player to learn some more the hard way! The AI on tripleA is pretty weak. I used to do pretty good in anniversary tournaments on the ios app ambition before that went to shit back in the day. Anyway thanks for any advice.

Hi Colonel,You might want to check out the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion.
You’ll find it under The Captain’s Global 1940 House Rules Collection. (under the House Rules section).
This is absolutely one of the most balanced Global 1940 versions - if not the most balanced.
There is a TripleA version for this balanced expansion as well. This is also included in “The Captain’s Global 1940 House Rules Collection”.
Tons of Fun & Challenge is guaranteed.

You could check out the league we have on this website - https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/category/29/leagueA wide range of players, from the elite to the cannon fodder. As simply as posting a request for a game here to get started - https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/30809/find-league-opponents-thread/1154
There are three TripleA maps played in the league:
- World War II Global 1940 2nd Edition (standard, out of the box rules)
- World War II Global 1940 Balanced Mod3 (https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/27451/g40-balance-mod-rules-and-download)
- WW2 Path to Victory (https://www.axisandallies.org/forums/topic/35323/ww2-path-to-victory-rules-discussion)
The games are competitive but friendly and full of advice and dicussions on tactics, as well as regularly updated standings and end-of-year playoffs. If you fancy playing any of those games then it is the place to do it. Send me a chat message if you want help getting involved, I’m not a high ranked player but happy to give you a game to get you started.

@colonel_sanders You also might enjoy looking over the past 2 “tutor” games, where players discuss rationale behind each move.
But by far the best way to learn is just play. Just post a message on the forums, and you’ll quickly find opponents.
