Okay, it sounds reasonable then. As Escorts primary purpose (from a game play perspective) is to take interceptor hits instead of bombers (the ability to shoot down interceptors seems incidental in comparison), I’m inclined to pair it with a rule that escorts can each protect one bomber, but any unprotected bombers take interceptor hits first. This way at least you have a reason for intercepting escorted bombers.

This rule is part of the Axis & Allies Global 1940 2E, House Rules Expansion.
Attacking Bombers & escorting Fighters that take part in a strategic bombing raid are vulnerable due to the extended flight time.
Defending Fighters in the area targeted are close to their bases - and are therefore well rested and well supplied.
These factors are also reflected in the Strategic Bombing & Air-to-Air Combat rules.

I like how you use air superiority in Dog fighting in SBR attacks.
Have not tried this yet in game.
We do have all planes can retreat in combat rounds but not using air superiority there based on most wont play that route but yes I can see using it in SBR attacks. Risk reward there.
But do you get any bombing before UK US figs can reach Berlin else where. Usually it happens more in France territories for allies and Russia for axis.
I like how yes your LL is good. One key thing Russia needs is figs. And now can defend a few areas with interceptors.
But then with stronger defending interceptors I’ve seen less bombing based on so many planes each side has in games or areas.
I get where your saying defender stronger based on being fresh and fueled. -
@gen-manstein
…forgot to say, that we often see industrial complexes converted to Underground Factory - especially in occupied French territories - to avoid Strategic Bombing - and to give the German Forces opportunity to destroy them and thereby deny them to Allied Forces in the anticipated D-Day Invasion.

Then there’s less bombing in your games.
Also I mentioned above that in combat planes are dog fighting each round and can retreat any time. This is based on 2 things.
Nobody wants to play with air superiority
This forces a player also to take a plane casualty when he doesn’t want to. Everybody always saves planes to end. Besides 1000s of planes were lost destroyed in war. -
You got me thinking on how now to force attacker to take a bomber instead of a fig in SBR dogfights. Thinking if interceptor rolls a 1 it forces attacker to take a bomber casualty. This way don’t have to raise defense on a interceptor. Just thinking here.
May add this to land naval combats to
