TripleA Manual Gamesave Post: Russians round 7
TripleA Manual Gamesave Post for game: World War II Global 1940 2nd Edition, version: 4.0
Game History
Round: 7 Purchase Units - Russians Russians buy 9 infantry; Remaining resources: 0 PUs; Combat Move - Russians 1 infantry moved from Kazakhstan to Caucasus Russians take Caucasus from Germans 3 infantry moved from Vologda to Archangel 1 artillery and 3 infantry moved from Tambov to Volgograd 2 fighters moved from Russia to Volgograd 1 fighter moved from Russia to Archangel 1 artillery and 1 infantry moved from Tambov to Volgograd 2 infantry moved from Tambov to Volgograd 1 infantry moved from Vologda to Archangel 1 infantry moved from Tambov to Volgograd
Combat Hit Differential Summary :
-
Want to take both Archangel and Stalingrad. Thinking of adding one more art to the latter.
-
Somehow I think it’s rather obvious moves. Of course Italy is coming with 8 mech from behind, so will still have a strong can-opening-capability, but taking out 2 tank, 2 fig for them should be a good thing anyway.

@trulpen I agree that you can’t pass up Volgograd, but I think you should aim for more certain odds. I dislike trading so many Russian units for Italian rather than German, but if you are able to stack samara after you can counter the German counterattack.
Also, instead of two inf, I might buy one tank, just so that I have a unit with blitzing capability.
-
Nice with a swift reply. Wasn’t expecting it. :)
There will be room for buying a tank next turn. Now I still wanted to maximize the defensive properties of the purchase.
It is not evident were those 20 mech are heading; towards Moscow or Norway or both. Now Moscow can however be heavily supported by allied air if need be.
-
I also don’t like going in heavy on Stalingrad, but I considered it better than failing. Both denying Germany the production and taking out italians are prime objectives.
Now Russia is on a crazy 36 income.
With things getting rather hot in Europe, that’s pretty good.
-
I did a quick check on odds on Moscow on the turn after next. You will need 10-12 allied air in range to keep his odds below 50% if he decides to really go for it.

Thanks! Should be easy-peasy.

Game is definitely looking vastly improved with Japan tied up in China, Germany stalled, and the Med about to be turned into a convoy-raiding nightmare for the Axis. The loss of the Italian air force was a big blow.
-
Came to think of something. Think I have to have moew in Moscow. Will adjust.

Neglected the italian sb can-opening-possibility. Think it’s corrected now. What do you say?
-
I like it, but why give up Yenisey. As stands, the position is a stalemate, neither side can advance. The 2 inf aren’t getting anywhere quickly to help anything. I would think its worth it to stand and protect a few IPCs.
-
2 sb reach.
-
bummer. Didn’t see them down there
-
It’s easy to miss. I almost did.
-
The good news is that as I see an all out push by G to attack Moscow in 2 turns with max def buy (9 inf + ftr) + max off buy (3 sb + 3 tanks) The battle is 75:25, and just a few allied ftrs can stop that. Russia is turning a corner
-
Hold your horses.
-
Ok, no more feedback. Consider the russian turn finalized.
