@Wittmann Wow. I totally missed the UK had Merchant Marine. Just realized the whole German navy is sitting at the bottom of the ocean.
-
@redrum I suspected as much and, had we been in this game, I would have warned you. I won over the odds too. But then you will have 180 to spend amd 50 angry German ground units in Paris, so can afford to buy a new shiny one.

@Wittmann Yeah, it was a good play. I’m not used to seeing UK get MM that early. I think I got a bit lazy once I realized Paris would definitely fall.
-
@redrum bloody Hell! I looked everywhere fir that Tasman Sea Sub. Where the Hell was it? I wanted to ask : I even looked through the history.
-
I thought it must have scuttled, like the Graf Spee!
-
My French soldiers are refusing to fight on! Germans in Paris! Mon Dieu! C’est la fin de la civilisation telle que nous la connaissons! Nous nous rendons.
-
Just seen a WhatsApp from Leo asking me to do the F turn. I thought we had agreed to surrender when Paris fell. The poor boy cannot stick to any plan ……
-
@Private-Panic at least I am a boy!
It would seem that the opening G1 amd the 11% chance of getting Armour on G1 has made our task impossible. Was Austria given extra income for its territories too, as it seems to have way more income than I remember it having. (I thought it too wealthy in the old set up.) I am not sure that such an easy ride should have been scripted. You really have played to the changes and it might have been too much for balance.
I am happy to play again , with the same sides, if that is what people want. Owning Paris with enough units to capture Rome, has sealed your victory, especially as Serbia and Mecca look set to go soon too.
America can’t help, as Mexico means it had to expend half its resources there.
What do You think, Redrum? Was this easier than you imagined, when changing things? -
I know that one game cannot prove the point but having won as both CPs and Entente with the previous set up, it seems that an early G discovery of Armour now ensures a CP victory?
-
-
@Wittmann I’m fine if you want to concede and start a new one.
-
@redrum only because you had no navy. Won’t do that again, will you?
Seems fairer to Adam that way.
Same sides one more time? Please start it and if you get Armour , start it again!
Well done guys. -
@Wittmann Ha. Well my 200 PUs say I could have a navy if I want :)
I’d vote to switch sides but fine if you want another go at playing Entente.
Early German tanks definitely make defending Paris difficult but I think still possible. If you replace the tanks with cavalry and some of the inf with artillery, I think Paris still falls in this game.
-
@redrum Will talk to my allies re whether to swap sides and get back to you.
-
So isn’t that wrong then, if it is so scripted ?
Adam wanted to switch sides too. We can do. I fear we won’t be as devious as you and lose, proving nothing. I would not send all forces at one Front, like you did.
Will see which nation Colin fancies. I have not heard from him in a few days. -
I’m happy to play again, would like to try the Turks again if possible in the next game. Other than that, no country preference.

Hi redrum. I have played F a number of times under the previous version and have never lost Paris before, whereas on this occasion I don’t think I could possibly have saved it as G’s odds were so huge. Perhaps I have never faced a really good G opponent. While I have no doubt you understand the game far better than I do, my own small experience says that if G discover armour early on, this version is heavily stacked in the CP’s favour. There are so many other changes to the set up making life harder for the Entente, that armour guarantees victory if G focuses on the capture of Paris.
Have you played F against a G with armour from the off?
-
The armor definitely helped Germany, but I feel that the lack of reinforcements from Canada, the US, and England was just as big a factor in the fall of France.
