Quick answer is that bids seem to keep going up with bids over 20 now common.
yes
just the dollar amount.
:-) Looks like a pretty big over-reaction to me
I’m not convinced. Even compared to OOB you’re losing 2IPC/round NO income on rounds 1&2 as USSR. You’re likely to grab the Persian Route lend lease NO plus the bonus for Japan’s DOW on USSR on Round 3 so you can invest that round 4 for a stand in Moscow round 5.
I intend to find out though.
Note:
@axis-dominion:
I played like 5 league games where I did a G1 attack and I won all but the one against adam. The other opponents were E or 1 tier. I agree it is definitely less viable, but not totally impossible to win.
Well on a typical G1 the Russian Archangel NO is blocked, so in BM3.2 Russia does earn a bit more than in vanilla on a G1DOW.
Round 2&3? I guess. Or would you use a sub as Germany in SZ125 to block it round one? You might lose a plane in SZ111 if you make that trade.
On a G1 Germany doesn’t go for both 111 and 110. It’s safer than the traditional opening of attacking both 110 and 111.

or in my current game germany didn’t go for either of them :-)

Probably goes for 111 though.
Although it seems not always.

Against Pherman? That’s an interesting one. G1 DOW but no assault on Moscow.
i had 70% odds on moscow, but the avg tuv wasn’t good at all, and so it was too risky. pulled a hitler and went south for the oil fields instead
Sounds like the right decision
The turn 3 restriction on the Lend Lease to Russia doesn’t work, nor makes sense historically. It should be scrapped.
In fact, why was that changed? It basically sets up a huge incentive for a G1 attack on Russia…. Japan sits on its butt and lets Russia steam roll the USSR>

Oh come now Karl, surely you’re not saying a G1 can’t be stopped now, are you?

well, I am finding out right now…
Simon33 did a G1 against Russia in our prior game and took moscow easy. I ended up winning that game for other reasons. Now he is trying it again and is looking set to take Moscow again… So…
Just seems too much of an incentive to do a G1. Also, it doesn’t make any sense. Why would the UK not start sending Lend Lease if Germany attacked earlier as opposed to later? If Germany attacked the USSR in 1940, that means no battle of Britain, freeing up considerable UK material.
G1 is still less viable in BM than it was in vanilla, are we agreed on that? I fail to see how such a small change can suddenly make G1 unstoppable.
It takes time to start the Lend Lease, and UK had convoy problems of their own. That’s an explanation for the Lend Lease delay until round 3.

Yeah, I guess UK in 1940 had issues… but then, it was only 10 months between the end of the battle of Britain and the first Arctic Convoy… I’m pretty sure the UK could have assembled some sort of support in 1940 vs 1941.
Anyway, ShinJi just declared G1 war against the USSR in my newest game, so I have 2 experiments running on this theory that G1 is a strong move in the current BM.
We will find out!
I haven’t played BM3 yet, but just want to be sure I’m getting this correct…
New Lend-Lease restrictions cost USSR either 2 or 4 IPC they used to get first round after a G1 DOW.
Round 2 costs the USSR 2, 4, or 6.
Round 3, the standard German DOW in my experience, the only difference is a better chance for Germany to cost the USSR 2 IPC in Archangel.
A range of 6 to 12 fewer IPCs total, over 3 rounds, for USSR between BM2 and BM3 G1.
Does not seem dramatic. Less dramatic than the new 3 IPC NO each round for Japan it would seem to me.
I’ll watch and wait and see what happens. :-)
Also, if the German DOW settles back to the standard G3, the only change in BM3 game balance from BM2would be the 3 IPC NO for Japan, right?

It’s a subtle difference between doing a G1 DOW in BM3 and OOB, no bid.
A G1 DOW was always difficult to stop. The changes make a G3 DOW less optimal.
Just started a game with the combat move first map, and noticed one minor issue - when you have the ability to build a CV for planes to land on but they wouldn’t otherwise be able to land, it won’t let you move them to combat, since you haven’t bought yet.

Yep. That’s in the notes. It’s an edit mode fix - you can use the edit mode “Perform move actions”
There’s a couple of other problems too - you can’t repair a facility before combat movement and if you conquer a capital without a fight, you get the plunder before purchase.
I still think its better that way but not everyone thinks so.
