Thanks for the feedback. Most of the rules for the game were crowd sourced from those actually playing an axis and allies style game. The game was never intended to be a historically accurate representation of the American civil war…as are the axis and allies WW2 games. They are themed games. You are welcome to try it out on Steam tabletop simulator if you have it before casting any kind of judgement. It really is a fun game that challenge players. If you want more historically accurate games, you’ll have to look elsewhere.

Could we update the first post in this thread to include pics of all the tables that have been built recently. It seems a little dated.
Thanks in advance.

I’m not sure what you mean by dated. If any of the links in the first post are no longer valid or have changed to new URLs, let me know what the correct new links are and I’ll be glad to make the necessary corrections. (I’m hoping it won’t be necessary because, due to the board’s current software, this will introduce a whole bunch of black diamonds into the text of the post.) If you mean that the first post only lists the small number of table picture threads that existed at that time, this was always the original intention. The first post was simply meant to be the starting point for the overall thread, with new links for new gaming tables being added to the thread afterwards as separate posts. In other words it’s the overall thread itself that was meant to collect links, not just the first post.

OK, understood…. I thought other links would be added to make post #1 a one stop shop for all the different table pics.

Here is the link to my build thread. Hopefully this helps someone in the future get started on their own. We will be playing our first game this weekend on it. I will post pictures when we are done.

how do I post an image here? do you have to get permissions from the admin?
-
You need a certain number of posts to post pics unless a moderator helps you out.

Kcheu’s custom G40 table
–------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Table that I’ve been wanting to build since 1984 dreaming as a kid… I have seen pretty impressive tables at gencon and a lot of tables in this forum gave me some inspiration. Young grasshopper’s table I liked the most and it follows his design with the map he worked on. Hope you like as I will be breaking it in with my two boys and some friends this labor day weekend.http://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6248828/20140824_172807.jpg

Awesome job! I can see you have some real woodworking skills - nice idea making it fit on top of the pool table.
-
WOW!!!
-
Incredible! That is fantastic.
-
thanks, i look forward to many many games on this table.
-
If you wanted to make about 5 of these, I bet they could fetch at least $1600 > $1900 each.
-
I actually thought a second about that considering the game-table company geekchic that goes to gencon every year, but at this point I am not sure I could handle customer service on that one, lol. The materials cost about the following
Jatoba raw wood- $300
2 white oak base 4x8 plywood sheets- $65
2x2 underbase frame support- $30
vinyl map - $150
Lacquer - $10
Suede material for dice rolling box and compartments - $16
Spray adhesive- $12
labor- ….many weekends lol -
Hello guys,
just wanted to show you my new war room in my new house :-D
It is more a gentlemans room with nice small bar.
The game table is similar to the one a few posts ago.
The only differences are two dice towers and the amazing combat dice from FMG.
Hope you enjoy the pictures. And if somebody is the southwestern region of Germany, walk right in
for a game :-)

I’m in the process of making a custom gaming table using a 4 x 8 map. I know about building a table for G40.
My concern is if I put the country trays on outside of map ( with trays on both sides will measure 57 1/2 inches wide ) will the reach be to long ?
US, UK, France, Ger, Rus, China, Anzac won’t be to bad of reach. Italy, UK in Med and Japan will be long reach or have to stand up.
I will have some trays on outside of dice boxes to.
We been playing games and the only countrys that you have to get up and play is UK, China.
If its just 3 country’s for the reach, then I’ll probably go ahead and build it. At least you can sit for buys and study moves and everything is there. -

Here’s a youtube video I found showing a group playing 1940 Global, and it reminds me a lot of the way our group moves around the table.
