Thank you! It’s listed as “map options” on my computer.
Yes, in old TripleA versions it was labelled “Map Options”.
you need to click on veqryn’s link to download global
then you need to open up whatever triple a you are using
open up maps and move the download global game in there
then back up and restart triple a
if that doesn’t work then create a folder “World War II Global”
unzip global and move everything into your new folder which should be in maps and restart everything
also I don’t think global future 3 works on 1521 just 1.6
but it looks like you want 2.9 put in 1521
OK, I redownloaded it, but Global is not there under the list of games.
I have to go somewhere else to get it?
uh…. you redownloaded what?
the MAP is separate from the GAME ENGINE
if Global was updated, then you only have to redownload the MAP
if TripleA was updated, then you only have to redownload the ENGINE
to download the map, use the “Download Maps” button on the main screen of the game, then put in the link, and press “list maps”, then go download global
the link (put it into triplea, do not open it in a browser):
http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/tripleamaps/triplea_maps.xml
FYI:
Global was updated today to version 3.1
(that is the file version)
You guys all need to redownload it.
The fixes:
3.0 - 3.1
2.9 - 3.0
Everyone needs to download it.
http://sourceforge.net/projects/tripleamaps/files/maps/World War II Global.zip
Make sure that both you and your opponents have it. If your opponent does not have it, then you might end up playing by the old version….
thx,
veqryn
FYI:
Global was updated today to version 3.1

This map version 3.1 is for engine 1.6.x only, isn’t it?
the zip comes with both version 2.9 and version 3.1
2.9 is for TripleA 1.5.2.1 and later (1.6 and 1.6.1 will play it too)
while 3.1 is for only TripleA 1.6.1 and later

- Created game option that prevent unescorted transports from conducting amphibious assaults.
…
What is behind this? Does this reflect the following rule
Submarines:
Submarines no longer fire a special “sneak attack” shot at unescorted transports that move
through their sea zone (see page 30 of the Europe Rulebook). Instead, transports are not
allowed to unload land units for an amphibious assault in a sea zone containing an enemy
sub(s) belonging to a power with which they are at war unless at least one of his warships was
also present in the sea zone at the end of the Combat Move phase.
So the new option has to be activated to check if there is an enemy sub that prevents an unescorted transport from unloading?
Thank you :-)
it is activated by default in global 1940 3.1
also, unless you guys still have games going using triplea 1.6, you can uninstall 1.6
1.6.1 is all you need (except if you have savegames in 1.5.2.1 and/or 1.6)
1.6.1 is at least as stable as 1.5.2.1 is, and i plan to re-release it as a stable version if there are major bugs (or with with fixes) in 2 weeks or so
“Post Move Summary” after Combat Move is a great feature!
Thank you :-)
Hey, sorry to bother you Veqryn, but one of my opponents on 1.5.2.1 keeps generating un-openable maps. I don’t know if these files will tell you anything, but if you have time to take a look, let me know if there’s anything he/we can do to fix it.
He has not had any trouble opening my maps in this match, and all of my maps posted normally.
Thanks (and no worries if you don’t have time to look into it)
Hi Verqyn,
Wheatbeer has posted my maps above.
I’ve been having the same problem sporadically in other games as well. I’m running 1.5.2.1.
As a work-around, I’ve been trying to save as PBEM games, Local games with a “.0” at the end of the ID, and also without. No one way seems to be working, but I’ve managed to save some maps that have been openable by doing this.
Thanks,
Odonis
Odonis, what operating system are you running?
Noone has ever had these errors, in 10 years of triplea, so i suspect it is you or your computer.
Your savegames are corrupted, throw them away.
Please delete all your versions of triplea, and uninstall java. Then go download the latest version of java (either java 6 update 33+, or java 7 update 5+). Then go download and install TripleA from this link:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/triplea/files/TripleA/1_5_2_1/
then try making a new savegame
Ok, thanks, will try.
I’m running Vista…
I’m getting this when opening up 1.5

Like the quote says, you have a map made for a newer version of triplea.
see here:
http://www.axisandallies.org/forums/index.php?topic=27507.msg973567#msg973567
TripleA 1.6 is out:
http://tripleadev.1671093.n2.nabble.com/TripleA-1-6-Unstable-has-been-released-tp7579863.html
http://sourceforge.net/projects/triplea/files/TripleA_Unstable/1_6/
And attached is the XML you must use. It is called “World War II Global 1940 Alpha 3 Future” (because it only works with TripleA 1.6 and later)
Instructions:
1. Download TripleA 1.6, and install it or whatever.
2. Download the map “World War II Global”, the latest version (should be version 2.9 as of writing this).
3. Unzip the map into a folder with the same name as the zip. There should be no double folder.
The directory to the games folder should look like this:```
triplea\maps\World War II Global\gamesExample: C:\Users\veqryn\triplea\maps\World War II Global\games 4\. Delete the zip. (you don't need the zip because you just unzipped its contents to a folder of the same name) 5\. Download the xml file I have attached here. 6\. Copy or move the XML to the "games" folder inside the Global folder. Example: C:\Users\veqryn\triplea\maps\World War II Global\games\ww2global40_alpha3future.xml 7\. Run TripleA 1.6, and select "World War II Global 1940 Alpha 3 Future" (should be version 3.0 as of writing this), and PLAY IT! **NOTICE:** Because of installing this XML, you will forever receive a "message" when you open TripleA 1.5.2.1 _IGNORE THE MESSAGE!_ Basically, this xml contains information that TripleA 1.5.2.1 does not understand (like the technologies for global alpha), and consequently TripleA 1.5.2.1 will complain that it doesn't understand this xml. **Nothing bad is happening. TripleA 1.5.2.1 is just telling you it can't read the xml. Just close the message box, and ignore it. You can keep using TripleA 1.5.2.1 for all your other games, including Global 1940 version 2.9!** This is the message you will receive:
Trying to play a map made for a newer version of TripleA. Map named ‘World War II Global 1940 Alpha 3 Future’ requires at least TripleA version 1.6
Warning: validation was turned on but an org.xml.sax.ErrorHandler was not set, which is probably not what is desired. Parser will use a default ErrorHandler to print the first 10 errors. Please call the ‘setErrorHandler’ method to fix this.

I don't want to hear anyone complaining about this message!
What does “invalid type code:47” mean? I am also playing Odonis and this error is one that pops up often enough that I remember it. He switched to 1.6.1 and the errors are starting to come back. I’m assuming the problem lies with his computer.

i’ll need to see the full error
Here you go.
Verqyn,
If it helps, I can open my saved versions of these maps without an error code.
Verqyn,

99% this is your computer’s problem.
Assuming you aren’t trying to mess with triplea or the savegame, the issue is probably something to do with your OS or your Java or whatever zip/unzip program is default used by the OS when java requires something unzipped or zipped.
triplea, when loading a savegame, just tells java to unzip target file and deserialize it
so, odonis, could you tell me the following:
1. How old is your computer?
2. What operating system are you using? (and is it a legal copy, fully updated?)
3. What java version are you using?
4. Have you made sure to delete all your old versions of java? (installing a new version of java does not delete the old ones automatically)
5. Do you have any trouble with anything else related to your computer?
6. Do you get these errors on anyone else’s computer’s, or just this one single computer?
Veqryn,
Will you guys be making a new 41 or 42 2nd edition game equivalent for these new games soon??? If so when???
