Now that was the biggest blunder that I immediately realized right away, in a long time.
I’m not asking to take it back. I thought I had a 50/50 chance of sinking a destroyer, but instead I had a 50/50 chance of not only losing my prowling super sub in the Med that could convoy Spain or noncom to 91, I also succeeded in landing 2 of your planes on Spain which is a MUCH better position since the Germans aren’t attacking 91.
Could have been worse, but that is really bad.

Victory conditions are like this: “you must keep the required number of victory cities at end of turn x and still keep this number at start of round x+1” Right?

Close. It’s harder than that for the Axis.
They have to hold all those victory cities throughout that round.
So if after J20 Japan has Tokyo, Phill, Hong Kong, Hawaii, Kiangsu and just took WUS, Japan has victory conditions.
It is not enough to also hold 6 at the end of J21.
If USA liberates WUS on US20, the clock is stopped. J would have to take WUS back again on J21, and hold it until J22 without Allies getting any city back.Taking one of the required cities that takes the total below 6 stops the victory until Japan can secure 6 again, at which time the clock starts and Japan must hold 6 throughout a round of play until coming to the beginning of the next Japan turn. No need to play that turn since cities have been held a round

Rulebook page 34 on “How the War is Won” simply states "The Axis wins the game by controlling either 8 victory cities on the Europe map or any 6 victory cities on the Pacific map for a complete round of play (ending with the next turn of the Axis power that captured the final required city)…
“complete round of play” is properly interpreted that none of those required Cities was ever taken back after the last city was taken.
So if Japan managed to capture cities 6 and 7 on Japan turn, the Allies couldn’t disrupt the victory by only taking 1 city because Japan would still have controlled 6 cities for a complete round of play

I think I just won my other game. I now have 6 aircraft carriers with Germany on G8 and am about to sink the Allied Atlantic fleet with 11 transports, and taking over factories in Persia and Iraq, barring extreme dice
So maybe I’ll be able to pick up my slow pace a little.

Fighter in Java was mistake, was supposed to be in 42 to sink the transport. Everything missed in Java anyway and I lost a bomber because the fighter wasn’t supposed to be there. That was very disappointing, but the rest of my dice went fairly well

Pretty much this whole game I’ve had to work hard and keep my “eye on the ball” just to hang in there. I pretty well got used to the map after about 6-10 rounds, maybe, and I think we’ve “settled in”.
I don’t remember seeing a game where the Axis are only behind approx 200 TUV and very unsure of the win. But for now it’s Australia, Hong Kong, and Kiangsu for the game, and Australia is cut off from the world.
I knew Russia had to stop concentrating on the German front at some point, but surprised at the size of the shift you did this turn. Russia and America were SO close to exploding Europe but just can’t do it because China and India can’t handle Japan alone.

Will your attempts to stop the Pacific victory take off too much pressure from Europe and then Europe gets going?I know anything I say potentially lowers my chance of winning unless I would be devious with misdirection, but you know what’s going on lol!
I’d probably better start a game with someone else if I’m going to get 3 done by 12/31. This one could rival the length of some of my longest games ever.

yeah, tech with Russia is def. an option. I feel like I need more men than tech right now… and the war bonds and african money are trating me pretty well.
Looks like japan did about what i expected so not any nasty surprises there. But can you confirm: japan has “only” three carriers? Pretty good given USA has none…But not too terrifying (it feels like)
I agree, the game is pretty strange and you are right, 124 TUV advantage for allies at begining of USA 13 isnt too much to brag about. But my units are fairly active and i have 64 more units than you thanks to all the cheap Russians, maybe that will save the day… we will see.
Unfortunately I will not be able to move before monday, hopefully monday. My old folks are visiting this weekend.
But I look forward to discussing everything when this is over…maybe even with crockett
