Axis & Allies .org 2024 Support Drive

Welcome to the 2024 Axis & Allies .org support drive.

Several costs for running this site have gone up in the past few years. For instance hosting went up and now we have to pay for our Gmail (Google for Work) account, which used to be free for over a decade. Traffic is down so ads are down; 2 sponsors stopped paying; and we collected 60% of normal from the support drive.

As a result for the first time in over a decade the price for patrons is going up and we’re no longer offering a discount for renewing. However, we also have new perks this year:

• Gold: signature, no ads (except sponsors), badge
• Silver: no ads (except sponsors), badge
• Bronze: badge

This support drive will end on December 31, 2024 and the next one will begin in 2025.

Number of 2024 unique patrons: 36 (39 in 2023 😢, 90 in 2016)

When I click on 2024 drive and Silver, the screen says LIVID labs and send. There also is a paypal link under that. In the past, I paid by PayPal guest, without joining paypal. Don’t see that option anymore. When I go to LIVID, it asks for email and password, but not username. And I don’t see a note space to include that. Please advise

Most of you did not provide your username when contributing. This is is going to delay your badge by an unknown amount of time.

Click, “send” then login to PayPal or Sign Up for PayPal. Then you well see the send payment page and a note field where you can enter your forum username.

BTW, if you see your name on the list but are missing your badge, you should be able to make it visible on your own. What this situation means is that I forgot the final step.

Go to your profile and you’ll see your groups. Notice how 2024 isn’t highlighted in the example? Before you highlight it, select it and use the arrows to re-order it to the top. Then select all the groups and save the changes.

I’m thinking of adding 2 new tiers:

• Service Patron or War Patron, black on white, can not be purchased, only awarded by a Distinguished Patron.
  • Allows more than the new proposed 4 game limit for League
  • Can upgrade for a 20% discount, once per account lifetime
• Distinguished Patron (red background, like me, or blue?) $120
  • Can award 4 Service Patron badges

Other notes:

• All patrons do no have a 4 game limit for League.
• If you win all of your free 4 games, you either “win” a Service Patron badge or you just don’t have the limit.
