Not that it matters, but I wanted to set the record straight. Turns out, the same results, the G sub sank the UK cruiser.
NML 1914 - Team Game #1

I am easy re bids. Although I think @Elrood and @redrum are the best players here and them being on opposing sides is far more likely to balance the game than anything else we might do.
Them and @witt teaming up in the last game made it an impossible challenge for the allies, but no-one worried about trying to balance the game. We just got on with it.
But just happy to play however the majority wish to organise it. I play for fun and don’t care so much about winning or losing.

@private-panic Finally admitting that I’m one of the best after all these years… never thought I’d see the day ;)
-
@private-panic we should try a game some time where we pick captains and they roll to see who picks first and they choose the teams.
-
@dawgoneit or even roll and the 2 highest are captains.
-
@Private-Panic Elrood and Redrum are on the same side, or were you just suggesting that putting them on separate sides would balance it out?
-
@dawgoneit Sounds like a plan for our 3rd game
-
@fmerwinrommel just an idea.

I might pay ypu another complement next decade @redrum, so you’ll have to make do with this one for now!
-
I’ll go Italy and Arabs.

Sort of. I am suggesting that this is more important for balance than sides. So if we are going to worry about balance this would be a much more pertinent place to start. But I was happy to play without worrying about balance.
-
That’s it. Who’s setting up the game.
G Redrum
F/S Rommel
A AEV
I/A Entek
T/C Elrood
UK Witt
R Dawg
USA PP -
Since only 2 players last turn wanted all those Marti emails, default is no emails except for the setup player. No marti emails for me please.
-
I’ll set it up and just keep the same settings and dice emails from last game unless someone messages me their dice email to be added (you can always add your own dice email in during your turn as well).
-
@private-panic quenching my beard in honey (german phrase) by praising me wont do it.
I would still suggest that Kevin as Austria gets sth nice to start with. Navel units worth 15 IPCs or a random tech from any one chosen area, would do it.
Come on! Is really no biggy but is a nice gesture
-
@elrood did you mean :
Honig ums Maul schmieren??
-
@aequitas-et-veritas yeah. Wusste nur auf die Schnelle nicht was schmieren auf Englisch heisst. :-D
-
Also… I meant drench, not quench… Sorry! :-O
-
@elrood I’ve never seen a 1914 game where Austria was in trouble, except when it ignored Russia. Italy and Serbia are no threat beyond retaking their own lands. G has its back and provides support. A has high income from provinces that are safe and have high capacity ICs. A usually gets offensive land tech early and puts Italy and Serb on defense, allowing A to shift its focus between I, S or R at will.
-
@fmerwinrommel “being in trouble” is not the concern. You can have fantastic armies and fortified positions and still will lose as Centrals. If Centrals would have to struggle at the start of the game we can as well stop playing right away.
Centrals need to be strong early AND be able to apply enough pressure after a few turns to push Entente out of their positions. This last part is the one that you cannot forsee from turn 1, as too many variables play into this.
Once again, what is the big deal with giving Kevin a tech? This will probably be equalized by some lucly or unlucky dice sooner than later in the game. He could not even use it in first turn as he would activate it normally at the end of aus1.
-
@elrood Perhaps being in trouble was not the correct phrase. Austria is always successfully on the offensive from the start against Italy and Serbia. If any CP needs help, it’s Turkey, against a skilled Brit named Witt. I will accept whatever the majority decides.
