Mexico was not independent during the civil war. It was under French control.

Is this World at War Fourth Edition map a mounted map?
The 2005 version of the game…Also: anyone has a picture of the Third Edition map with the red lines?
-
Thrasher used to have a site that was a main hub of internet information on A&A and its variants, back in the day (Thrasher himself (@thrasher1 ) is a user on this site now, but his old site is now only available on the Wayback Machine).
Thanks for the kind words.
Thrasher’s A&A Expansions page
Thrasher’s World at War Maps and PBEM page (PBEM - Play By EMail, how they did it online, back in the old days)
Regarding the World at War maps:
I own the Second Edition map. This was the more standard map with black border lines.
Then came the Third Edition map with red border lines. I personally never saw this map. Did any of you?Regarding the old files on my old site:
This page ( http://web.archive.org/web/20020527112145/http://www.wargamer.com/axisallies/ce/xeno/waw/maps/waw_maps_maps-pbem-help.html ) features two maps.
But I * THINK * that Micheal Roberts created this ‘third edition’ map in the style of the second edition map. As both of these maps look the same and are in the ‘second editon style’. So probably he adjusted the Second Edition map to create this version of the Third Edition map As it * IS * not the real third edition map as that one had red lines…
Anyone around in 1990s/2000s can help us out?

I don’t see any map, The World at War Fourth Edition or otherwise, in your post. That said, in the second post of this thread are pictures of the maps for two edition: the top map is from the Second Edition and the bottom map is from the Fourth Edition.
As far as I know, all of the Fourth Edition maps were mounted. While I haven’t heard of any that weren’t mounted, I can’t claim to know that every one made by Xeno was mounted. And indeed, the 2005 version of TWaW was the Fourth Edition, whether an upgrade pack or a whole new game was purchased.
As for a picture of the Third Edition map, BGG has your picture:

I hope this helps.

As for more TWaW goodness, fellow gamer @Gentlegamer was able to procure a wealth of TWaW file, which he shared with all of us in the thread linked below:

These files include:
World at War 2005 Rulebook

OK, I refered to the two maps linked to at my old page:
Micheal Roberts created two maps. Using an layout/design very close to the actual second edition World at War map.
One has the IPC values corresponding to the Second Edition of the game. And one features the IPC values of the Third Edition of the game.
So my point was: the layout/design of Micheal Roberts’ Third Edition map does not correspond with the actual (physical) Third Edition map of World at War.

Yep. I saw these. Great. Thanks, @Gentlegamer .
Does anyone have the First Edition manual and setup sheets?
And differences (if any) between the First Edition and Second Edition of World at War? -
I seem to have lost my first edition map, so I’d like to thank Midnight_Reaper for posting the link to the large map.
I tweaked the colors a little bit and made the sea zone borders white land borders are still in black, I don’t know if I can share it here, let me know if I can, and I’ll post it if anyone wants it.Here is a scan of the First edition setup cards, I don’t know if the setup varies between each edition.

@old_no7 Can someone do a entire series of Xeno games for You Tube? Europe, Pacific, and Global. Entire games using the pieces. I think a good teaching component of these rules would help and strategy. These are great games!
-
@imperious-leader I still have global and Pacific on scan for large format but im lazy to finish. Does somebody need a huge scan of map for these games and can do some grafix work to edit the scans?
-
@imperious-leader Sure I could give it a go.
Here is a variant I created using the Xeno Games World at War map, I changed the colors to match the original A&A map. But, I kept the Xeno Games zone layouts and values.
I’m waiting for the A&A 1942 second edition to arrive, I want to use some ships and the artillery components to create my own custom variant called “the last World War”, I’ll start fiddling around with initial unit placements and such.
Also tinkering with the idea of creating a new class of ships called “Freighters”. They would carry 3 units and defend at 1, cost 10 IPC’s.
The old transports would still carry 2 units, cost only 7 IPC’s but, no defense capability.Back to the parts subject, anyone know where I could get some components to represent mechanized infantry? Something like a half track or a deuce and a half?
Doesn’t have to be 3D printed customs, could be from other games, just as long as the scale is roughly the same. I checked out historicalboardgaming.com, components look good, but some of the needed colors aren’t available. Please let me know if you know some alternatives.Thank you,

@old_no7 What colors do you need? I think that HBG’s total range covers a lot of colors, so I’m curious what you think they missed. If you are looking for true color matches, you will have to paint no matter what…

-
@midnight_reaper Talking about the colors on the third edition map link you posted.
http://web.archive.org/web/20020829112606/http://wargamer.com/axisallies/images/waw_map_3rd.gif
Maybe it’s just me but I liked the first edition colors better, sea was a lighter blue made the whole map seem brighter.
This is my rendition of the first edition map I made using the one you linked.
-
@old_no7 Using the colors of the map you linked, I don’t know why HBG wouldn’t work for you. No, they don’t pay me anything. But, to me, it’s the obvious solution. So I wonder why it would not work for you…
Here’s what I would buy, with links to the correct pages:
First, the All-Allied look:
French Dark Blue
China Light Green
British Tan
(potentially US Green)
(potentially USSR Brown)
https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--Allies--Mack-Truck-x5_p_1164.html
French in Blue (can also use Dark Green here for US)
China in either Light Green or Celery Green (Light Green will probably work better)
Brits in Tan
(can also use Dark Green here for US)
(can also also use Brown here for USSR)This would also help with piece recognition - all the trucks on the Allied side would look alike. Some more national solutions for the Brits, the US, and the USSR follow:
Brits can also do
https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--UK-Supp--Kangaroo-Mech-Infantry-x5_p_1888.html
in Tan or ANZAC Grey (Tan is probably best here)US Dark Green -
https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--US-Exp--M3A2-Halftrack-x5_p_2080.html
in Dark GreenUSSR Brown
https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--Russia-Early-War--Gaz-60-Mechanized-Infantry-x5_p_1143.html
in Brown (Russia)Now, the Axis. Doing the Allies in trucks and the Axis in Half-tracks will help tell them apart:
German Grey - either
https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--Axis-Minors--Opel-Maultier-Truck-x5_p_781.html
in Light Grey
or
https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--German-Exp--Halftrack-Mechanized-2501-x5_p_2170.html
in Dark GreyJapan Yellow
https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--Japanese-Supp--Type-1-Ho-Ha-Mech-x5_p_1620.html
in Yellow GoldAnd last, our neutral nations (assuming you want to get them half-tracks / trucks as well)
Neutral Light Tan
https://www.historicalboardgaming.com/Battle-Pieces--Neutrals--Polish-Truck-x5_p_790.html
in BlondeAgain, if you want an exact color match, you will need to paint. But I think these are close to what you are asking for.
If the above does not help, please be more specific.
My 2 IPCs,

for what its worth, I intend to submit high resolution original maps for Xeno 4th edition (the 5th edition map has no changes and is worse artwork IMO), as well as Guadalcanal and 1914 (I think I can do a better job than the one that is currently floating around) in the next two to three months. I will post on this website and this thread when complete.
-
@the_good_captain I, for one, can’t wait to see how they turn out. If I can be of service to you on your quest, feel free to DM me.
-Midnight_Reaper
-
@the_good_captain I have the scans and could give you a link?
-
@imperious-leader much appreciated but I do my own scans. Guadalcanal is up. I’ve got two maps for Xeno and the first will be complete in a few days.
-
So I think we can declare this thread concluded at least as regards its original intent:
https://www.mediafire.com/file/7i8mgxaom0d9oqw/Xeno+The+World+at+War+3rd+Edition+Board.png/file
This is the 3rd edition map. I will upload the 4th Edition next. Its the same map structure but was published with different colors/artwork. Also, I have created a repository of all my digital maps here:

@blakeadam who are you talking to?
