Perhaps a dumb question inbound on my end. Just updated Triple A and now cannot load this game. Is there a way to get the old version back as my default?

There is. Just download the 1.9.19993 installer and install in a different directory.

    Mixed things up. It’s 1.9.0.0.13066.

Germany 4: Is my capital safe? Yes, there is no 1-2 punch available because the UK does not have a transport in position.

Time to push into Russia more. Need to take Ukraine safely and protect Finland. Unfortunately, I forgot I was going to move 3 Italian fighters to Finland to defend there on IT3. Now I must send German ones which means Bryansk will a be a much tougher nut to crack. I do so dislike making mistakes.

Fast movers I buy this Turn can still make Moscow by Turn 7 so that makes buying simple.

  • @AndrewAAGamer Out of curiosity, why so many artillery to Western Ukraine? Not sure it really matters, but also leaves a decently valuable target somewhat exposed. Unless of course that is the point? :)

Good question. If I want to get those artillery into Bryansk next Turn I have to move them into Western Ukraine this Turn. Any hope of taking Brynsk and thereafter turtling Russia next Turn requires I get those 6 artillery into position to attack first. This does leave open the possibility of a strafe of Western Ukraine to kill as many of those artillery for infantry as possible. This is where the 3 German fighters really are going to be missed on the Brynsk attack on G5.

Russia will not be able to take Western Ukraine and hold Bryansk. Therefore, they will want to strafe and hold. However unless it is a perfect strafe Germany should have a 95+ battle on Brynsk. I am assuming that Russia will not want to give Germany those kind of odds. I may be wrong.

Thinking ahead to the US/UK turn, you have a lot of options for landings, and these might shape your Soviet turn. I’m definitely leaning towards taking Norway because of its impact on Germany’s income and with an airbase there you can send air into Moscow. This might mean some of the UK air in Karelia come back to defend Norway or the fleet, although that shouldn’t be necessary.

And I would want to be sure I have enough US/UK fighters in range of Moscow on the following turn. It looks to me that around 6 or so keeps the German odds to around 50-60%, if the Soviets don’t lose any more units that can reach Moscow safely but I would double check that.

For the Soviets you obviously want to retreat, but if I can I would try to split the stack between Tambov and Moscow so that he has a hard time grabbing and holding volgograd. Not sure if you would have the odds given the German fast movers, but I think you can just set up safely with some of the UK air landing in Moscow.

You also want to have enough allied fighters in Moscow to discourage a strat bombing.

And you might want to use the Soviet tanks and mech in Karelia to hit Belarus. They are not likely to make it back to Moscow in time and there you can at least try to trade them against German units that can reach.

And although I think you want to bring the 6 inf nearest to Moscow back, at least some of the remaining soviet units in the East should put some pressure on Japan.

  • I’m thinking of hitting Finland actually, to help the Allied landing in Norway. Don’t want G to be able to take it back easily. If it goes well, it will even be conquered. If it fails, there’s the retreat to Karelia. Displaces the russian air for a turn, but that should free up some of the allied fighters in Karelia to drop down to Moscow.

  • The other option is of course the defensive one, retreating with the 3 Leningrad-mechs to reach Moscow and attacking Belarus with 2 mech, 1 tank, which will be slaughtered. Question is if it’s worth it to risk air there?

  • Purchase 11 inf, 2 art for Moscow and Stalingrad.

A third option is to hit Baltic and Belarus and stack in Leningrad.

  • If going for the third option, the purchase will be 13 inf, saving 2 IPC.

  • Maybe 2 mech instead of art in Stalingrad, to reach Moscow immediately?

  • I’m also leaning to change the attack to Belarus, with the 2 mech, 1 tank. Maybe 1 fig, 1 tac as well.

On the other hand, if a blocker in Rostov is skipped, needs to be pretty heavy to hold against 1 tank, 3 fig, 1 sb, then 3 inf is better. If G hits it, it has to be with some force, which can then be wiped out.

  • Would need 6 inf, 1 aa for Rostov. Don’t think we can afford that.

  • The other take of hitting Belarus.

I’m ok with risking the air. 33 % risk it hits one and then the tac goes. Without the air, the mech and tank are wasted. Will only make a dent in the german scouting-party.

G can then hit Norway with 6 inf, 3 fig, 2 sb, but likely the air will go towards Moscow instead. Norway is the naturally best landing-spot for US. Definitely want to go there! With only 1 sub and little air around, there’s no need to grab Denmark, so everything may enter Norway. UK has 1 fig to spare which can further help out.

I’d like to move all 6 figs from Karelia to Moscow mainly to deter SBR.

  • I discarded the plan of stacking Leningrad. It’s worth nothing if Moscow falls.

Have more or less decided on the second plan. I very much want to roll, but will try and wait a while for input.

  • Btw, another decent option for purchase is 9 inf, 1 art, 1 fig, only putting 1 inf in Stalingrad.

  • I do like the 11 inf, 2 art better though.
