    It may alter your thinking, but I would like to attack the Italian fleet with one less fighter, i.e., 1 carrier, 1 cruiser, 1 ftr and 2 trans.  It will be painful to edit since other combats ran.  My plan is to make the moves, edit the completed combats and then continue the attacks.
