Portable Piece Storage Tips?

I was thinking of buying a bunch of Plano tackle boxes to store my G40 and eventually my HBG pieces. However, that would probably require 8 or 9 trays in total, and that seems hard to travel with (if I want to bring my G40 game to gaming meetups). I really like the FMG Ammo Box, but unfortunately it’s out of stock. Has anyone found a good, portable way to store the tackle boxes?

I was reluctant to get the planos because of space issue. I wanted something that fit in the box. I went ahead and bought them any way. Very happy i did. I got the ones with good latches and if the dividers are put in correctly (not upside down) the pieces stay in their compartments just fine.
They should all fit in a regular back pack. Duffle bag, gym bag or “husky” soft sided tool bag($20). -

One thing to consider when buying plastic piece containers is the lid. If you see my videos you can see that the lids don’t open all the way and are “up in the air.” This allows you to have a smaller footprint on the table with your containers because the lids aren’t all the way open taking up twice as much space as they would if you have to lay the lids down on the table. Also, they are handy because you can put your cards, charts, paper money, etc. on the lid where you can see them. I had to hunt around to find lids that were like this because most of them open all of the way.

That was the large size that I am using for Germany, Japan, US, and UK. For the others I’m using the medium size;

If you wanted you could simply get a large plastic storage bin to fit your game and all of the containers in. Those aren’t hard to find and they are quite cheap. I have a number of different ones that I use to take stuff to the lake on weekends.

10 containers are used. I have 2 larger sizes that are unused that I can grow into. -

I stole them off a one-legged hooker with warts who bought them from a dude in Toronto for a hundred bucks. They work awesome so it was worth the effort.

I use Artbin’s storage bin’s I found at Joann Fabrics for my pieces. Large boxes with 5 rows and 3 big compartments up front. No more trolling through all of the pieces looking for the one piece you need. If you don’t have a Joann Fabrics near you, you can check out Artbin’s.com… They come with 20 dividers as well. Bought the country battle labels from HBG and put them on the top of the box. Hope this helps!

The Plano 3500 Pro Latch tackle trays are a great size for housing each nation’s pieces as well as the roundals. I use six of them as well as a 3700 Pro Latch for my Anniversary edition game. The larger tackle tray fits the IPCs, dice, chips and ICs / AA guns nicely. Plano even has a small tackle bag that you can carry them.

Yeah, I’m thinking of getting Plano boxes. Would it be possible to fit 8 of them in the 2 game boxes? I think I can fit 2 in each box, and I would like to stack them 2 on top of 2 per box, but I can’t tell if that would fit. If two such Plano boxes stacked won’t it, are there thinner versions that will?

I think they would stack well in the box as long as you remove the cardboard boxes.
