I’m about to arrange an A&A 2 vs 2 tournament via PBF.
Hereby searching for participants (we have at todays date 5 applicants).
If interested, please notify me by writing in this thread (follow the link).
@Young:
@Cow:
One of these days I will make it to an event.
Our team is now targeting October 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th 2019 at a larger Legion hall on the same street.
Just putting that on my calendar and notice its not a weekend - is that on purpose?

Yes… Monday would be a travel and setup day, 3 days of guaranteed games, Friday for the medal round games, and the whole weekend to get home and go to work the next week. I’m anticipating and preparing for more tables and more divisions.
That sounds awesome YG. It’s like the A&A olympics!
Thank you Grasshopper, thank you Larry Harris
EPIC doesnt even describe this event, in fact that would be the understatement of the year.
No bid I think its very even and no its not broken
If you get up against a good opponent they might beat you 9-0, if you can score and keep it close it can be any ones game, if my S.L. had worked our game would have been different, instead of loosing 6-2 it may have been 5-3. I was glad we played first it made me focus more on our game. I knew that Desert Admiral and I had to put on our best game, and I had never sat at a table with him before so we worked on a plan and gave it our all. We new we were up against 2 of the best players ANYWHERE!
As A&A players we all want to think we have an"A" game so if you go and you have a “C” game, you’ll find out that what you thought was an A game is not and you become a better player and you end up handing it to your regular group real bad until they adapt to what you learned
Thank you to EVERYONE who participated you are my brothers and friends
“Suprise Attack”
Do you know hard that is to spell it wrong all the time
I decided to use my free airline tickets to go to Italy, up until now I felt good about that decision. After seeing this Italy better be awesome if it’s going to beat Toronto

No chance (lol).
How do we know how good anybody is if they don’t tell us, and than play to prove it?
Have them play together to prove it, just create divisions because the number of games to prove that are limited so you need to have a structure that allows for few games to be played with a winner overall.

If you said that you’re coming and that you wanted to join the enthusiast division… why should I stop you?, I have no idea how good or how crap you are, and I don’t see why I should arrange a “structure” to find out before the “real” games begin.
IL… the tournament was a success, I worked really hard and everyone agreed it was a great time. I’m not gonna let you’re personal beef with Gargantua or your scepticism about the competition force me into changes that are not needed.
This year half my bunker members went up against Gargantua including myself and we all lost… do you wanna put us at the kids table because of that? (at least we faced him). If you disagree that Gargantua and Variance deserved to win Gold, than that’s between you and your hate for him… but don’t blame it on my tournament or the players that came out to fight.
People generally know where they stand and are looking for good games against opponents who are challenging for them at their level. The result was some top-notch games in both divisions. I don’t think there were any Gargantua-level sharks prowling the goldfish bowl looking for easy meat in the hobbyist division.
It will be great if IL and as many of the top players as possible show up in 2019. That itself would be a big draw for hobbyists to come see the fireworks as the elites and masters square off. So cool.
So 15 tables total? I liked the D-day theme (and BTW the moment of silence was a good thing to do).

Lol based on the photos this was an incredible event. I am not sure where I will be in life in October 2019 (grad school/work/etc.) but this is something I will try to make for sure

Somewhere between 20-30 tables total, we have already found a bigger hall on the same street. The beach names were special for 2017, we will come up with something else to name the tables in 2019.
Destroying Meeplecon 2018 and turning it into Globalcon 2018 should be your goal.

Im saying since their is no rating system and many people who may play wont know how good they are, everyone should play in one big tourny, but the number of teams would need to be structured into divisions of which the winner in each play each other. no different than Basketball or any major sports structure of determining this.
Under that tourney you ran, you had two divisions, but the winners of these never met, because play between them did not exist. Only teams in that division played each other, not in the other division. I bet some team in Hobbyist could beat enthusiast, but it wasn’t possible. I am proposing you just have the winners of each division play each other rather than the top two teams in ONE division. Its simple, no?
I agree with Imperious. A basketball style bracket. I now I was’nt there this year, however I feel as though I would want to play against the best competition possible.
What I’m thinking about doing for the Vegas event is to make different time restrictions, i.e. tighter for enthusiast, and fewer (maybe less time amount) time tokens for enthusiast.
That way folks know they have to move fast and be a good player in Enthusiast. I was also thinking about setting a certain number of rounds that everyone plays, maybe 9. The place we’re playing at is open from 10am-11:30pm.
Thoughts guys?
Congrats to TEAM GAR for the win and the rest of the gold winners. Bottom line you all were winners !
Whatever the rules are….as long as they don’t change with the wind…People are going to practice in accordance to the rules and structure

Based on what I’ve learned last weekend and getting feedback from many participants including Gold medalists like Gargantua… we have settled on the following modifications. I can assure you that there will be no more changes after this because I have to design cards for each change made, and I desperately want to stop making cards. For those that paid for card decks already sent in the mail without the modifications, I will be shipping them free replacement cards for the few changes that were made. Therefore, practice with this rule set… it is now set in stone for better or for worst.
