Ups, my fault. Gibraltar is not considered a canal, so in theory u can pass with transport, but only to be stopped by the destroyer as mentioned earlier in this topic.
BTW: We play Gibraltar-Morocco as canal as a house-rule, perhaps that explains my post above.
Italy or Germany

Which would be a more effective choice for an allied sbr campaign bombing Italy or bombing Germany. My choice is Italy because with its small income one could effectively prevent them from making war, or just annoy Germany.

Imo, you should combine SBR attacks with something else, especially against Italy. A combined UK+US attack/threat on Italy is much more viable in the first few rnds than against Germany. It takes more time to crack Germany.

Germany is better. You must ensure they cannot spend much more than 30 IPCs in land units each round. Since they need buy 10 units each turn, they are forced to repair all you bomb (so max bombinb is 20). Italy, that usually buys 3-4 infs mid game, will be bombed only to a max of 9-10 each round, they are not forced to repair all
However sometimes you will need bomb Italy if bombers from England want land at Egypt of trj

I like to try to spread out and bomb both equally. Bombing Germany is always good because they always have to repair, but bombing Italy to keep em weak reduces overall Axis numbers.

Depends on the overall board and positioning. If you desire to ensure the axis have fewer units, hit italy, If you desire the axis to have weaker units, hit germany. But as others have said, this must be combined with another tactic to be effective.

Germany because, espacally if they hit Russia hard, Russia is stuffed aginst a full blown Germany.
But 1 bombing round aginst Italy can really catch them off balance and make it hard for them.
