Round: Late 1940 (Round 2)
Germany:
The Germans purchased a bunch of land units, a fighter, and 6 U-boats.
They moved the bulk of their forces east. 4 fighters landed in Italian-controlled Alexandria. The two combat-engineer units moved to Paris. 1st Panzer Army was formed in Berlin.
They ended with 64 IPCs.Soviet Union:
Seeing Korea not being properly defended, the Soviets made a surprise attack against the Japanese and opportunistically captured empty Korea with just 1 infantry :) Now a state of war exists between these two great powers, and more fighting will ensue.
2nd Soviet Army Corps was formed in Moscow.
They ended with 45 IPCs.Japan:
The Japanese, outrageous by the lame attack, moved a large amount of forces up north to meet the Russian infantry army. A large army is now stationed in Manchuria. Soviet Far East was captured too. Also, the Japanese troops in Asia moved deeper into China, capturing all the border territories, including Yunnan.
A second minor factory was placed in Kiangsu.
They ended with 52 IPCs.United States:
The US continued to build up in the Pacific and purchased some naval units, as well as two fighters. Four fighters moved to Guam. They ended with 68 IPCs.China:
The Chinese made a coordinated strike with the British. They made an agreement - if the Chinese would gather their forces and make an attack against the Japanese army in Kweichow, the British would declare war on Japan. No sooner said than done. The attack proved to be successful, reducing the Japanese to just one tank, at the expense of four Chinese infantry.United Kingdom:
As promised, the British and the ANZAC made an unprovoked declaration of war against Japan. The Japanese troops in Yunnan, still drunk from their victory, were surprised by an attack from the Indian forces in Burma. They were completely destroyed and only got one hit in return.
In Europe, Gibraltar was liberated from Axis oppression. The defense in Egypt was beefed up with some aircraft and land units.
They ended with 58 IPCs.Italy:
The Italians captured Yugoslavia. They also made successful amphibious invasions of Syria and Trans-Jordan, together with landing crafts and paratroopers. A lot of pressure is put on Egypt. They ended with 23 IPCs.ANZAC:
They purchased submarines and captured Celebes, giving them a whopping income of 30 IPCs.Income totals:
Germany: 42 / 64
Japan: 32 / 50
Italy: 15 / 23USSR: 36 / 36
USA: 52 / 52
China: 6 / 12
UK: 51 / 62
ANZAC: 20 / 30Axis: 89 / 137
Allies: 165 / 192 -
Getting a bit nervous for the Axis.

Game 4 barnee vs Panzerstahl-Helm
Game:1940
Axis:barnee
Allies:PanzerCongratulations to @Panzerstahl-Helm for his first and most certainly not last, Global 40 Expansion Victory !
While the Axis still had armies in the Field, the overwhelming economic might of the Allies resulted in a Allied Economic Victory !
Follows is the Game Report and I’ll do my best not to overdo it . :)
The reich began the war with a normal build with the exception of 2 Engineers.
They attacked the British in 110 and 111. 2 U-boats and a Damaged BB withdrew to 112 after sinking all of the UK Fleet, except for thr BB which was damaged.
The soviets made defensive buys, although they did produce 3 Tanks.
Nippon built a china Fctry and conducted normal Early 1940 Attacks.
The yanks went with a heavy naval build, launching the U.S.S Missouri on the West Coast.
UK repaired there BB and moved to 109 to join the remainder of there Home Fleet.
They sunk the Italian Vessels off Malta. No major attack on the Italian Navy was conducted.Italia purchased LCV’s and a Paratrooper.
They sunk the remaining Allied ships in the Med.ANZAC purchased a trprt and took control of the usual Dutch TTys.
In Late 1940 Britain declared war on JPN and heavy fighting took place in Yunnan with UK forces being victorious.
China would be a non stop battle for almost the entirety of the war until the early 1950s.Italy was able to conquer Egypt, despite a UK Task Force anchoring off GIB in the Med.
The reich makes minor attacks on UK shipping while preparing for Operation Barbaroosa in Early 1941.
The soviets concentrate there defense in UKR as well as Vyborg with 1st Corps at it’s core.
JPN successfully counterattacks against what it perceives to be Western agression, by taking Hong Kong and Singapore.
They also take Yunnan.Soviet 2nd corps has massed in Amur, and IJA is concerned.
The Americans launch a Atlantic Fleet and china liberates Yunnan, gaining there Natl Obj in the process.
UK begins attacks on nazi occupied Europe with Paratroopers, while continuing heavy combat against Italy in Africa/ME.
They also take Singapore back.Italian Forces reinforce Syria.
I’ll pause here in case machine freezes and continue with a more general report as I’m being long winded as usual lol.
That and the war lasted until Early 1953. Take a couple days writing it up lol
Here’s the triplea save EXP Game 4 Stahl G 27.tsvg
Germany launced Operation Barbaroosa in Late 1941.
A combined Sea, Air Attack, including Paratrooopers and LCV’s, was able to defeat a heavily defended Caucasus for an important Objective.Soviet 1st Corps took Finland and in Early 1942, Norway. It would take until Early 1945 due to massive Allied support, before the Deutsche could take it back.
These were major PU gains for USSR, as they got the 3 dollar bonus for spreading the evil of communism, 3 bucks for control and negated 5 dollar Objective and 3 PUs for control for Germany.Soviet 2nd Corps moved into Manchuria in late 1942 and Jehol in Early 1943, where they suffered a major defeat by IJA. Dice were not in there favor.
Even though stas said they would lose, the IJA would be attrited significantly, which did not happen.
This would probably have made a 2 turn difference in the Pacific as the Allies were pressuring JPN from the start. In late 1943 the Americans would gain a foothold in the Middle east by taking Iraq. They would expand into Persia the next year.
This was one of the main turning points in the war, as the Axis had the upper hand until then, but the biggest turning point was the failed Wehrmacht Attack on Moscow in Late 1947.
40% of the Luftwaffe Bombers were shot down by the FlakTower as well as a Fighter.
The Wehrmacht had 23 hits and the soviets 37 after the first rd of combat. An absolutely devastaing blow to the Wehrmacht.Battle calc showed a 1 rd strafe at +55 tuv, which was the German plan, attrit the soviet land units and then withdraw. Instead they suffered a Massive -156 PU defeat.
One they never really were able to recover from.
Earlier, in Early 1947, trying to break the stalemate in Egypt and then breakout in Africa, Italy attacked Sudan. They thought they had enough defensive power to hold Egypt or at least be able to successfully counterattack.
The reality was the Brits hit there High water mark, absolutely destroying the Axis Forces in Egypt.
While a counterattack proved successfull, it was short lived, as overwhelmhing British power would take control in Late 1947 and never lose it for the rest of the war.
The soon to be followed debacle in Moscow, and the initiative for the Axis was gone.
Late 1947 was also unkind to JPN, as they were pushed back to there China Factories, with no prospects of ever making any advances in China again.
The Caucasus would see Heavy fighting with the TTy changing hands multiple times.
One of the largest being when an overaggressive Patton was defeated in Late 1948.Man I wish delete wasn’t right below edit, i almost dusted the whole thing lol
While the Axis, primarily the Reich, which deployed Type XXI U-boats to good affect, were able to keep the Allies at bay, they were overwhelmed by superior Allied Economic and Unit superiority and were defeated in Early 1953.
Conclusion
There was massive use of Air Transports by both sides. Especially the longer the war went and they proved effective at transporting troops.
The Total War cost of 12 seemed a very good purchase.Panzer invested heavily in Allied Air and it paid off for him. Moscow would not have survived otherwise and it proved to be too hard of a nut for the Wehrmacht to crack.
I think the FlakTower to be overpowered. On average one will lose a third of there Bomber Force. That makes me want to go more Armor, Artillery and infantry on any Moscow attack.
I think that’s limiting as forcing a certain playstyle. Maybe have it hit at 1 in 6 same as Fighters.
Idk @The-Captain you guys have crunched a lot of games and this was first time playing with it, but my impression anyway.
I like the historical aspect of the new Kamikaze rule, but i just don’t see myself ever using it.
At best, a 9 dollar ftr will kill a 9 dollar CA. CA will always get a hit and just over 80% for the kaze.I guess maybe you could hit a CV, but rarely are they in open ocean or non friendly adjacent TTy. Maybe North Pacific.
Only 3 bucks to repair. Limited range for the Naval Ftrs.
Idk, not really seeing where I’d use it.Not to sound like a downer :) totally dig the Game ! :)
Anyway
Rock OnPeace Out

Awesome report! It must have been a tense fight!Well barnee the Flaktower rule is optional, so you could just leave it out if you want :)
-
Great game report,
Truly an intense fight until the very end.
The game seemed balanced most of the way - until the Axis started loosing High Value Territories to Allied forces, without being able to re-capture and hold on to those territories.
When we analyze our game reports it is obvious that an Economic Victory is by far the most numerous Victory Condition.
Since an attack on a Capital, such as Moscow, will require an overwhelming and concentrated number of Hard Hitting Units, for the most part it is not worth the try.
Which is why an Economic Victory is more recommended. When the Strategic Planning includes an Economic Victory - which in the end would result in a Military Victory anyway - the War will have to be a War of Attrition.
In Global 1940 Expansion, this Strategic Plan requires more thought and skill than in any other Axis & Allies game.
Concerning your game report, we are impressed by the scale, number and variety of units included in your Production and Combat.
We look forward to your next game report.

Round: Early 1941 (Round 3)
Germany:
The Germans purchased land units, and again 6 U-boats. They moved units into position in preparation for Barbarossa. 1st and 2nd Waffen Armies have been formed. The UK fleet in sz 91 of 3 destroyers and 2 transports was destroyed. The two combat engineers moved the factory from Paris to Greater Southern Germany.Soviet Union:
The Russians, seeing the massive German build-up, set up their defense. 3rd Army Corps as well as 1st Tank Army were formed. Caucasus was heavily defended.Japan:
Japanese forces continued their assault against China and Russia, and captured several British territories.United States:
The US built naval units in the Pacific. They moved all of their Pacific fleet to sz 8 near Aleutian Islands and also constructed a naval base there - putting a lot of pressure on Japan. The four fighters from Guam reinforced the Philippines. They declared war on all Axis powers at the end of their turn, collecting 91 IPCs, ending with 108 IPCs from savings.China:
Chinese forces attacked along the whole front, destroying Japanese forcesUnited Kingdom:
Offensive operations were launched in the Atlantic and Asia. They built a Tank General and an Air Transport in London, mistakenly assuming that they could carry that to Africa (TG is too heavy for the AT, only realized that later 😂)
Edit: I was allowed to take back the Tank General purchase, so luckily the 8 bucks were reimbursed to me 😀.Italy:
Italy continued to be annoying by moving Paratroopers and troops with landing craft to Syria. They captured Iraq as well as NW Persia via an Airborne attack. On top of that, they declared war on the Soviet Union and captured Bessarabia - opening up some room for the Germans to attack when it’s their turn.France:
The French DD destroyed a Japanese sub in the Pacific. How contributive to the war!Income Totals:
Germany: 42 / 64

Round: Late 1941 (Round 4)
Eastern Front:
This turn, the Germans declared war on the USSR. They made a powerful Barbarossa and captured a lot of Russian territories. However, the Russian counter-attack was also strong, capturing most of the territories back. Only the attack on Rostov failed - all units got wiped out.
The Germans moved the minor factory to Romania with their engineers, and formed 2nd Panzer Army in Berlin.
The Soviets took deep defensive positions in their territory, deadzoning multiple areas. They saved 51 IPCs, unfortunately one buck too short for maximum Red Army Conscription that will be coming up next turn.Mediterranean:
Heavy fighting took place in Africa. The British attacked Alexandria with a large force, trying to weaken the Italian army. However, their rolls were slightly subpar. Both sides lost a lot of units, but eventually, the British had to retreat. The UK purchased more fighters, and they also moved an Elite Infantry to French West Africa using an Air Transport, to reinforce Egypt on a later turn.
The Italians, on their turn, tried to make a risky attack against the weakened Egypt with everything that could reach. However, their rolls were not good enough, so they ended up retreating after one round of combat. Still, they took out 4 inf, while their losses were 3 LCVs, 1 inf, and 1 tank, making good use of the Landing Crafts that absorbed most of the hits. Edit: one more Italian artillery was killed due to a rule oversight.
French forces also reinforced Egypt, strengthening the defense.
The Italian assault against the Middle East has proven to be successful, resulting in the capture of several territories and the British are unable to push them back.Atlantic:
The Germans purchased three more U-boats this time. The Americans produced four destroyers to reinforce their Atlantic fleet.Asia:
Japan made successful attacks against the Chinese border territories, capturing most lost territories back. The Chinese then recaptured Yunnan and took defensive positions in the mountains.
The UK forces in India were forced to retreat from China, but are continuing to build up to possibly start a new offensive.
The Japanese factories in China are running at full speed, producing combat units.
Japanese troops continue to march through Siberian territories. The Russians are unable to hold the line and are forced to retreat.Pacific:
Seeing the American threat coming from the north, the Japanese reinforced SZ 6 with a large fleet. The Americans responded by producing another 3 carriers and 6 submarines in the Pacific. An attempt to capture Iwo Jima with the help of a cruiser failed.
Australian and American submarines have scattered across the Pacific, making it very hard for Japan to start an offensive southward. ANZAC also made a sneaky landing in Formosa, collecting an extra 2 IPCs.
Since their income is now so high, the Australians decided to build an extra factory in Queensland.Income Totals:
Germany: 47 / 64
Japan: 37 / 45
Italy: 19 / 31USSR: 25 / 30
US: 52 / 91
China: 6 / 12

Still a little nervous for the Axis.
I like your new style of reporting based on theatre, rather than by nation. Works at least just as smoothly.
-
@barnee You asked for a Game Report Post, so here it is:
Global 1940 with Expansion Rules - sections 1-4 (no optional rules)
Germany - mkgionet
Italy - Cathy M
Japan - Pat H
UK - Mike K
Russia - Alex M
USA - Josh SReport through Early 1942
Germany succeeded in clearing the Atlantic (except for US coast) of all Allied ships until Late 1941 when the US fleet finally entered the war taking back Gibralter. That emboldened the UK to build back its fleet in Early 1942. With Germany unsure if the USA would enter the Mediterranean a small fleet was hastily built off the coast of Southern France and so the USA turned north.
Italy succeeded (with a bit of help from the German air force) to clear the Mediterranean of Allied ships but took a major defeat in Northern Africa, practically being kicked out of the continent.
Several German armies were formed to start a relentless march towards Moscow. At one point there were two Army groups formed. One still remains intact with 10 infantry, an SS army, and a Panzer army. As soon as Late 1942 begins multiple armies will be on Moscow’s doorstep. Surprisingly Russia chose not to build any mines, and they’ve received very little help from their allies. No units have been given to them yet via Lend Lease. Yes, those are Anzac troops in Bryansk that just arrived by rail from Egypt.
Japan focused on (and succeeded) in eliminating China, winning a significant battle against a sizeable Anzac navy that’s been greatly reduced. Russia and Japan are still at peace, though troops are starting to gather on the China/Russia border.
UK rules the middle east and most of Africa, though only a fairly small amount of ground troops remain. UK is making a stand in India, time will tell if they make a move to try and resurrect China.
The USA has focused more of their attention on the Pacific, but have had a hard time organizing their units and coming up with a definitive plan of action.
See attached pictures - more to come when play resumes on 5/27/24.

That is Awesome !!!
This is the Largest Multi Player Game Report Ever Posted !!!
I Dig it :)
Looking forward to the rest of it :)Edit
What is your Groups play history ? Have you played together much ?Edit 2
Oh the Brits have Greece ? -
@barnee Thank you, me too!
Over the course of the last few years we’ve been playing the Global 1940 game in-person. In the previous 3 games we’ve added one section of the expansion rules to get where we are now - playing sections with sections 1-4. Mike, Pat, Alex, Josh, and myself have played together for most of those games, with Cathy being a newer addition.
No, those are Italy’s troops in Greece.
-
Nice! Looks pretty tied and even. Hopefully that’s a good sign that the new rules are balanced.
-
Those Army Marker Flags look awesome.
Do you have Army Group Flags as well ?
We’ll follow your interesting game closely.
-
Hi @mkgionet
Please remember:
When you have completed 5 board games with the Axis & Allies Global 1940 House Rules Expansion you will automatically be rewarded with Handpainted Units - se the thread:
Handpainted Free Units on this forum.
-
@The-Captain Those flags were made by one of our players (Alex) quite some time ago, long before we ever knew about the “army” rules. We never had a great use for them though, except for decoration. We’ll need to make more though as I think they work well at representing army formations.
-
Actually they are playing ftf, so they’d qualify after this one. No triplea for them :)
