TripleA 2.x new stable has been released

Exactly. Every small change or adjustment leads to a new pre-release. But only a very, very small fraction is savegame-compatibility breaking.

Meanwhile we are at 2.7xxxxx. A current problem is that we have been waiting for a new “stable” release for years. But it doesn’t look like this will occur anytime soon. So pre-releases are all we can get right now. Being “stable” is just a tag, a timestamp in development history, however. Pre-releases usually are not “unstable”.

Please dont take those “f–- off’s” by some as a voice from AAWC. The War Zone serve used by those playing in AAWC on the Hasbro CD is not owned by AAWC. The War Zone server is owned and controlled by a privet party (i believe someone from the Risk Lobby).

We can not control who comes into the War Zone, only those allowed to be members of the AAWC club. There are several players in the War Zone who are not active members of AAWC.

Right, this is supposed to be the only map-change from 1st editon to 2nd edition.
TripleA 1940 Alpha 3 for example reflects the map of the first edition,
TripleA 1940 Second Edition has the change, but only technically; that means that you cannot enter Yukon in (TA) G40 second edition.

Changes for Global 1940 version 3.0

Added all technology to Global 1940. Allowed paratroopers to be moved in a second combat movement phase. Made bonus for Mech Infantry work correctly. Made Rockets go 4 spaces and not fly over neutrals. Allowed UK_Pacific to share the cost of researching technology. Made British share all technology with UK_Pacific. Allowed Convoy Blockades to roll dice (you can turn this off in game options). Allowed Low Luck for Strategy Bombing and Rockets to be set again. Stopped British air units from dying if UK_Pacific was building a factory under them. Forced Tactical Bombers to only be able to target airfields and harbours. Allowed Submarines to enter any sea zone during non-combat, but end movement if there is an enemy Destroyer present.

Clarifications about TripleA 1.6 and TripleA 1.5.2.1, and using both at the same time:

Can you play TripleA 1.5.2.1 savegames on TripleA 1.6?
Savegames are incompatible due to the new features i’ve added to 1.6
Keep 1.5.2.1, and download 1.6, and you can run them both at the same time (use 1.5.2.1 for your 1.5.2.1 savegames, and 1.6 for your 1.6 savegames)
The only time savegames are ever compatible, is if it is the 4th digit that is the only digit that changes.
Example: 1.5.2.1 to 1.5.2.2 would be compatible
while 1.5.2.1 to 1.6 is not compatible

Can someone with TripleA 1.5.2.1 play against someone using TripleA 1.6?
No, you must both be using the same version.  
But don’t worry, you can have BOTH versions on your computer.  
When you want to continue your ongoing game that you started with 1.5.2.1, then use 1.5.2.1.
When you want to start a new game with someone who also has 1.6, then use 1.6

If I download Global version 3.0, will I not be able to continue or start games using TripleA 1.5.2.1?
No.
Global version 3.0 contains both 3.0 and 2.9, that way you can use 3.0 with TripleA 1.6, and use 2.9 with TripleA 1.5.2.1
The 2.9 version is named “World War II Global 1940 Alpha”
The 3.0 version is named “World War II Global 1940 Alpha Future”
You will see both of them in your list when you are using TripleA 1.6,
And you will only see the 2.9 version in your list when you are using TripleA 1.5.2.1

Maps were updated on July 9th 2011, so please redownload your maps if you haven’t already (especially any ww2v3 style maps)  (repairing and some techs won’t work unless you redownload your maps)

Changes from 1.2.5.5 to 1.3.2.2

All known bugs in 1.2.5.5 are fixed. Major improvements to the AIs, especially to Moore AI. A new AI added, Dynamix, which is land only for now, but still being worked on. 4 new maps added, now TripleA comes with 11 games. More help for new users, including tool tips for unit stats and abilities. Massive expansion in the options and customizing of games. Many new options which allow modders to make their own board games, and their own rules and gameplay. Partial support for Axis and Allies 1940 games. Pacific 1940 is 80% done, while Global is 40% done.  This is still being worked on of course.

I should mention that Revised, Spring 1942, and the 50th Anniversary Edition look beautiful on this release!  Come give TripleA a try….

For those of you who do not know, TripleA is a game engine for playing A&A and similar games online, both for Live games and PBEM.  It also has single player against 3 different AIs, and Hotseat mode.  There are regularly 20-60 people in the online lobby, and lots more people play custom games and really big maps by PBEM.

The AA50 ladder is now up and running at TripleA War Club.

The ladder is a rankings system, or an ongoing competition, using the TripleA program.  Ladder games are played on the lobby or via PBEM.

To join up, get an account with TripleA War Club and register for the ladder.

Each ladder match is a 2-game series, with each playing both Axis and Allies.

Like the Revised ladder, which used a set 9 bid, there is a set bid for the Allies in AA50.

41 low luck=11 bid
41 dice=8 bid
42 dice and ll=9 bid

Since every match is a 2-game series, the Ladder competition will soon provide reliable statistics on bids and game outcomes.

There are a wide variety of skill sets competing on the ladder…from novice to expert.
