While looking at game result postings, I noted that you had played another game against AxisDom. I looked at that game and youf discussion on deciding on unprovoked Allied DOW on Japan. I’ve never tried that, but might have been beneficial to my allies in our current game, given Japan’s delayed DOW. I thought about trying the UK opening to sz92 instead of sz81 in this game. But without the normal allied bid, I didn’t want to put a dd there and not have a spare ship to join the air attack in sz96, and not use the other dd to take out the subs near Canada. SZ96 favors UK, but relying just on 2 planes and getting bad dice, can really hurt. The initial Ialian moves under Vichy option made west Med secure and naval base in Gibr can threaten Egypt. I must try UK > sz92 opening move next game I play. It changes whole outlook of the Med and U.S. ability to send units across N. Africa.

There are advantages and disadvantages to any move such as UK/ANZAC, including the unprovoked declaration of War by UK/ANZAC. The question is whether the former outweigh the latter. I’ll say more later when there is not a security risk.
Massing the UK fleet at SZ 92 seems to be a popular move. Under some circumstances, it might be useful. But often the UK can be flushed from the Med on Round 2 or 3.
Adding the UK sub to the fighter and tac attack on the Italian DD and transport in SZ96 is a good and common use of the Allied bonus. According to the Odds Calculator the attacker should win 100% of the time and average 2.5 units left. However, Marti has no respect for the Odds Calculator. When Marti is involved, there are no guarantees, as one of my other ongoing games proves.

You keep surprising me, keeps the game interesting. Doubling down on holding off the western allies. I went to the arduous effort to fly U.S. fighters across sub-Sahara Africa to defend Moscow from SBR and you didn’t even try for it. Took a while to decide what Russia should build with the pressure at least temporarily off.

In one of my first online forum Global games (not league) I did an all air attack on G2 on Brit fleet that moved to sz92 on UK1. I had great dice and sank the fleet but still lost half of my fighters/TAC. Arthur Bomber Harris, who was observing the game, chastised me for risking the Luftwaffe, which would have taken heavier losses with average dice. Germany can’t afford to lose its air force so early in the game.

Scramble 3 ANZ fighters. Best defense, and choose ANZ units first within each defensive category. U.S. BB very last, with ANZ fighters just before U.S. fighters. Hardly matters.

I did something that I never do, I didn’t bother recalculating battle odds in sz54 on ANZ turn. So when deciding whether ANZ should retake NG or DNG, I wasn’t thinking taking NG to deny planes landing. I was thinking Japan planes could help kill amphib troops that retook NG, but couldn’t help against DNG. A&A global is so unforgiving in Pacific. I’ve won games by opponents overlooking possible landings. I won our last game by dice luck, but these odds are overwhelming.
