Complex in China - let me explain

There is a fairly common house rule to not allow Industrial Complexes on islands, specifically targeting Japan, to keep such a strong/game winning move out of the game.

if Japan is completely ignoring China, absolutely that will happen.  Of course if that happens China is going to be irrelevant anyway as it’s being ignored!

Our games rarely end up with  more than 6 to 8 units in any given territory and that will be a territory that is hotly contested or highly desired by Japan (for whatever reason).

When placing new Chinese infantry you can place them in any China controlled territory up to a max of 3 units.

To be clear, there is no limit on the number of Chinese units that can be mobilized in any given Chinese territory.  The requirement is only that the territory must have fewer than three Chinese units prior to mobilization, not that it have a maximum of three afterward.

Also ignoring China and letting them liberate Kiangsu or Manchuria will negate a Japanese National Objective. It takes almost no effort of Japan’s part to eliminate China. Manchuria and Kiangsu are also great for Japanese ICs. They are on the mainland so they do not require a navy to service them. They also can only be liberated by the Allies, never captured. This means should you loose them, they can not be used to produce units that will be used against you.

Also consider that Chinese infantry are “free” any other Allied unit in that area had to be bought and brought there. Which is a bit easier said than done. I see no reason not to stomp China flat from the get go.

Japan could leave the TR unprotected for a turn since the China Fig can not attack it and no one else can either.

Well, I don’t think we can say either way if the game favors one side or the other if the setup is incorrect. Hopefully it is balanced or is close. Hopefully in the true setup India and Australia and Canada have an IC. I doubt it but a man can always dream. If it doesn’t I will try to house rule them in but, that leads to trying to rebalance the game. If of course it was balanced in the first place. Hopefully China’s setup gives them a fighting chance. I don’t want to see Japan able to defeat them in 2 rounds. Being able to beat China should be an endgame scenerio for the Axis. It should play out more like AAP.

To buy IC’s in China which will be useless for Japan anyway, a stupid tactic, if the Jap player wastes money like that the axis will surely lose anyway.

From a technically point of view it does seem like this is a glitch from the game designers, although we can’t say for sure until the 23. October.
