Here’s the Armies vs Navies idea I came up with!
G40 Balance Mod - Rules and Download
-
I believe I ran into a bug with Vichy France happening even though a British Infantry was in Southern France. Please see link in the following post:
Yup it seems to be related to the fact that it’s included in the 1.9 global package. The bug is here to stay until it’s updated.
Even changing Southern France to German controlled doesn’t prevent Vichy lol. I recommend changing Normandy back to French before France’s turn to thwart this bug for now.

Hmm, so you’re suggesting that a fix might be to have a new download for BM? I’d be a little reluctant to implement that because it means a lot of the map download is duplicated.
I’ll have a look if I can see a better fix.

Hey all,
Attached is Balance Mod 2.1 (in saved game format). The only change is the correction of the Vichy Bug discussed above. If you are concerned about the bug affecting your games, you can play this version rather than the one that is built into TripleA until we get the latter version updated.
Thanks all for your patience.

Hi regularkid,
I’ve opened a pull request for this fix.Are you interested in learning how to do this? You’ll need to get a github account. If not, I’m happy to assist but in the future can I get the .xml version? Seems that the exporter doesn’t always export everything in the same order or something so it becomes non trivial to do a comparison.
-
Hey Simon. I appreciate your help. Attached is the xml for the balance mod 2.1, with the vichy fix.
-
Thanks. I’ve worked it out in this case.
But this would be a useful baseline.
-
any update on fixing 1.9 for macs? The scramble box blinks forever.
-
There’s a few tricks to stop it - command-Q and say no or minimise the window. These often don’t work straight away but you can usually get it to accept input. Had a look at it yesterday but I couldn’t see a fix.

Yah, this is the main thing thats preventing me from picking up a league game right now.

How to start a new BM game in tripleA 1.9?
Is there a game file like attached in this thread in the OP somewhere?
-
Ok, just realized the attached game file IS for 1.9. Ignore my post above please.

You don’t need one. You can select Balanced Mod so long as you’ve downloaded the WW2 Global set of maps - which you need to do anyway.
-
The BM that comes with the global package has the Vichy bug.

Are you sure? I’m pretty sure I’ve applied the fix. Perhaps I haven’t moved on the version number though so it won’t tell you that you need to download the new version. There’s still a few outstanding bug fixes for some other maps that I’m waiting to be applied so that is probably the case.
-
If the version number is 2.0 you don’t have the fix. If it is 2.1 you do. Unless I’m mistaken.
-
correct
-
Yeah I had to update the G40 maps to get it.
-
Ok, I’ve submitted a pull request to get the version moved on.
I was waiting for another map to be included but it has been 19 days now.

I don’t quite understand, the version that are included in the Global pack have a working Vichy. I think you just need to click on ‘‘download maps’’ and then update the G40 pack.
-
While I can update the current version, there is an additional update that needs to be made to tell Triple-A that it needs to re-download the map. Thankfully, that update has been made now.
