The CP has the central, interior advantage, so can reach every major target by land, without ever building a single transport: Paris, Pied, Rome, Belgrade, Greece, Moscow, StPete, Caucasus, Cairo, and Baluch. While the UK and USA can’t defend most of them without building large numbers of transports and naval ships to defend them; and can’t seriously threaten offensively without building many transports. Which offsets the PU advantage.
Even if CO can’t take Paris or Pied, the Entente is defensive at first, and none is individually strong enough to push the CP back in the west or Italy. G & A each have 100+ PU base and a common, safe border, so they can build 30+ cheap ground units every turn. UK and USA amphib against G coast are just nuisance raids that can’t be sustained. A is even safer in the Med.

Only serious threat to G or A is with a massive, land force from the east, forcing them to defend both their western and eastern fronts. Only Russia can provide that. A weak Russia means G & A don’t have to expend much to protect those valuable territories.
UK can build a big, land force from India, but has to convoy it to Iran to be timely. Then it has to get thru T, which can build and concentrate many ground troops in a central defense. USA and UK can’t put all their resources against one target. Only R has that potential ability.
This game is slipping away, and as Communists earn almost as much as Russia, there is no way that UK can prop up Russia in the west or USA threaten C in the east, soon enough. In the first team game, StPete held, but it was just a shell of an empire, with the CP and C getting most of its income.
