    In the battle in Volgograd, depending on the roll, I expected you might choose an OOL other than max defense. Because I beat the odds a bit in my roll and got all but one of your units, I assumed your OOL was max defense and retreated leaving an Italian fighter. If you opt to keep a German tank instead, I would continue the combat. Thought we could do it after with forum dice if that was your choice.

    And I should also note that I had to edit again as the fighters in the atlantic keep defaulting to their own carrier rather than the allied carrier that they are landed on. So I edited the US fighters off of the US mainland and landed them on the British carriers off of Gibraltar and edited the UK fighters (before the UK turn) on to the American carriers that I had moved up to Britain. All the US air are still on the British carriers and the American carriers are empty.

    Thanks for the game, and very well played.

    That was very close and I think I just got the edge in dice luck, in the right moments if not overall. Right at the end I went 4/10 with my AA against Italy and Germany) and that battle in Russia was very close.

    Had you landed Japan air in Kazakhstan to block the British land units, that might have also changed the equation in Volgograd. Even with the same dice rolls in Volgograd I would have ended up with 2 less air in Moscow.

    I think I misplayed the Soviets early. I had read that a counter to dark skies was to try to trade land units (given the relative scarcity of them for Germany when they do bomber buys). But I implemented that poorly. The attrition favoured me and kept me alive in the early rounds I think.

    I think you then had a bit of luck in Norway and Shan state. You were obviously going to win Norway but I expected the trade in air to set you back at least a turn for an attack on Moscow and give me more flexibility with the allied fleet in the Atlantic. And I knew there was a chance I would lose in Shan state (my odds were a little better than 80%) but I expected you to lose most of your land units and be unable to threaten a land attack anywhere in the pacific or reclaim the islands for a couple of turns.

    But I think the dice favoured me after that as well. US air hit Japanese units in China 3 times without loss. I would get a hit from blockers more often then not too. And then that final turn worked out perfectly for me before your Moscow attack. The attack on on Volgograd went as well for me as could be reasonably expected and then the AA in Moscow was huge.

    Anyway, I’m curious what you think of your strategy played out. My own sense, for what it is worth, is that it is very dangerous, but also  perhaps more fragile in that fewer high value units are more susceptible to the dice.

    And let me know if you want another. I’m happy to switch sides or not, if you want to see this through again.

    Very well played on your part sir.  You did an incredible job cycling planes in and out of Russia.  I tried to get you to move your planes to Norway and then saw that you could easily swap planes in Russia with your Carriers.  That was incredible. Well done.

    If I take Bryansk on turn 4 its over before any aircraft arrive.  You delayed me two rounds not just one but two before I could sit in Bryansk.  I also lost momentum when you blocked Japan from Persia.

    Good Game and sure I will play another.
