    @mikawagunichi For whatever reason I’m really struggling to remember about airfield scrambles, so I cancelled the battles in Burma and off the coast of India.

    I might have had the fighters available to protect them properly against an Indian scramble, but I doubt it, and it was a long and fussy turn to try to re-do.

    I did catch the one off the Carolines, which is why I sent so many planes there.

    More broadly, I’m feeling a bit lost in terms of overall Japanese strategy on this map. India and New Guinea seem far enough away that I can’t reliably threaten them without leaving the core Japanese territories exposed, China and Russia have enough starting units in the region that I can’t knock them out while keeping up with US / ANZAC naval pressure, and the Japanese economy as a whole seems to be too weak to solve any of these problems – I’m earning 60 - 70 IPCs/turn, I don’t see a way to increase that, and China + Russia + ANZAC + US can easily spend 80 - 90 IPCs/turn in the region.

    In OOB Global and in AA50 and even in Global BM3, Japan has options for its expansion and the hard part of playing Japan is figuring out how to prioritize one or two of those options and make them succeed.

    On this map, I feel like I have no options, only threats, and I’m lucky if I can keep all of those threats stalemated.

    Let me know if that’s intentional, or if you have another way of looking at the ‘big picture’ for PTV that you find helpful. Happy to hear your strategy advice during and/or after the game.


  • @Argothair I don’t think you’re doing too bad honestly. You’ve still got 3 island-based NOs you could get, start robbing the Russians of the Siberian territories, and eventually maybe take down a capitol. PTV is definitely more about the longer-run economic war than most variants. It’s very hard to just to take capitols without completely abandoning the rest of the map.
