    I did not miss that battle. I felt like I had no better option.
    I’m apparently not very good at tactics.

    In your example, I felt like I already maneuvered myself into a horrible situation.
    I had a stack in Western Ukraine, that I couldn’t move back to Moscow in time, before the German stack that was already in Belarus.
    I was faced with two horrible options:

    A) Move it to Ukraine and eventually Rostov and probably down to Caucasus later. This would mean sure loss of Moscow and a meaningless Russian stack of 12inf+art that has no offensive power later on and only functions as a defense for the Middle East.

    B) Go to Bryansk anyway. Battle Calculator gives -40, with some luck it might be -30 or so. I cut some losses to Germany which will enable Britain to hold the Middle East later on. My thinking is: Since the Allies have more income, but the income is spread among more nations, they should seek as many small trades as possible.

    I think the mistake occured earlier which put me in this dire situation. That’s why I think my long-term strategy is actually okay, but tactically I am very poor.
    My biggest weakness is the Eastern front, with both sides actually. Somehow I almost never manage to capture Moscow quickly as Germany, no matter what I do. And I never manage to defend Moscow with Russia.

    I know that I should study the play of better players to improve. But frankly I am always too lazy and rather use the time to play myself. Probably not a wise decision.
