@gamerman01 Ok, understand. Take your time.
-
OK you’re like a porcuturtle now! The planes are showing their worth! Let’ s see how long I can stand to run calculations and scenarios and dance around the porcuturtle :astonished:
-
All complimentary, of course. Great strategy, saving the lead. It’s up to me to find a clever and lucky puncture
-
@gamerman01 What is a porcuturtle? And thanks btw.
-
One of these bad boys
mixed with one of these
I made it up, the porcuturtle
-
@gamerman01 Haha hence why I didn’t get a decent hit on google :D
-
lol you heard it here first!
-
Bumping to the top
Long delay by me :anguished: -
That was hard, and then the dice fell. Picked up right where we left off. At least your transports missed.
UK tomorrow
-
@gamerman01 Haha yeah!
-
It probably feels worse than it actually was, but I’m pretty sure I’ve been getting poor dice almost the whole game.
Probably partly due to your careful and skilled play that amplifies it. You got ripped off bad very early in our first game, and this one has been a long slow painful one for me.
This US/UK turn was the perfect microcosm of the whole game, from my perspective. I want to “flip the board”, but I’m gonna make you roll a big battle or two and see if it doesn’t bounce back the other way. There are still a number of things you have to do right and I have little doubt you will, but it’s not time to call this one quite yet. Can’t quit after one move after you had to wait a month.
-
For now, I control the Carolines, India, Australia, Moscow, the middle east, and London.
7 territories of China, all of East Russia, and Africa except for the all-important Egypt. You just can’t quit with the Allies with that combination, as well as still having more TUV (but not much more) no matter what the Axis forces.
However, I have
no beachhead or fleet off Western Europe, there are massive airforces by all 3 Axis powers at only round 11, and a sick number of mechs in great position in the Ukraine area. The Germans have a decent sized fleet and the Japan fleet has 7 carriers along with a good supporting cast other than few subs, to the Americans’ 3.It’s basically only our first game, but clearly you move carefully and methodically, taking minimal risk. Now you also know that I am a lot more unconventional and unafraid to take certain types of risks.
But if you continue to be very careful… will that extra time give me a chance to squirm out? Or will it only continue to be a cold, hard vice that crushes my spirit?
-
@gamerman01 Yeah I tend to agree, but I’m always quite conservative in my way of looking at the dice too. Without going back looking at individual rounds it feels like you’ve had bad dice or rather I’ve had good dice in important battles. In almost all battles except the one G2 when I attacked the UK fleet and you killed 5 planes.
I agree to that. I need to still grab the win one way or the other.
-
Thanks for that, you are very gracious. Sounds like we need that game 3 we were planning on.
-
@gamerman01 Yes, that has been my new approach playing the Axis. Pushing as much as I can, but more importantly defend against an Allied landing. We’ll see if I play too defensively, but in our game I would think not since I grabbed Egypt early on. Also, my Japanese fleet is superior, which is of course important to not lose money islands or similar at this point in the game.

@gamerman01 but in our game I would think not since I grabbed Egypt early on.
That is the story of the game as we established before. I can’t blame the dice for Z95 - with no scramble I needed a destroyer or cruiser to hit me to free up the carrier, and of course that’s when you miss me!!
But the Germans have to do the super dicey airstrike of British fleet in the Med, often, and that could have been the end of it right there, but you lost 5 planes instead of the expected 3-4. UNFORTUNATELY for me!? unless I somehow pull out of the 11 round dive. LOL still a great game, many hours of thinking hard. -
